because I like the flavor. Do you always drain the ground beef when you make it?

If you used a leaner cut of ground beef, you probably dont need to drain it. Also since you are making a sauce, most of it will probably get mixed up. If it still sits on the top - you should just spoon or suction off the excess with a turkey baster.

Well it depends on what the fat content of the ground beef is. If its only 5% then I leave it in but if its 15% or more I drain some of it. It makes the chili too greasy with excess fat.

I always buy ground round and drain all but 2 tablespoons of the fat per pound. Enough to give it flavor.

Dont use ground beef - if you have a food processor, make your own. Cut off all the fat and you never have the problem again.
That's the healthy way to deal with beef.

I drain mine....not because I don't like the taste.
It's because I always have left over chili and I don't like to see the hardened fat sitting on top of the chili when I go to reheat it!

I make mine a day ahead. Leave over night in the refrigerator and then the fat comes to the top. Scrape the fat off.
