Religion could very well be the root of all war. But I wonder what it would be like if all those believers didn't believe they were going to hell if they did evil things.

Christians and human beings combat between themselves because of the fact they're people. purely the place did you get the concept each physique Christians agree on each little thing? i'm a member of the Richard Dawkins communicate board, and from what i've got seen, many atheists take care of one yet another with severe rudeness, disrespect, etc. that's in comparison to Christians have a monopoly on combating with one yet another. Have a great day!

All religion is man made, whether concieved through a divine conviction or not. This includes catholocism, protestants, budhist, muslims and everything inbetween.
Even though all these religions were made by someone with good intentions, they were made by man, who is far from perfect, therefore all religions have been changed since they were started, and weren't completely perfect to start with.
But most of all: People but too much stock in the actual "religion", or just the motions, rather than their beliefs.

I just want to say to you that when it comes to Christianity that when judging weather or not to believe in that religion, you can only judge that by looking at Christ himself and His Gospel. Christians are people. Christianity is clear about the weakness and shortcoming of all human beings. You will not get by when standing before God with the excuse of " I didn't accept your sacrifice of your Son for me because Bert offended me and I didn't think she was a good Christian. You will be judged by what you do with the Word of God . You need to come up with a better excuse. This one only works with other unbelievers. Not that there is an acceptable excuse. May all your thoughts be captivated by the Holy Spirit. Amen
I just wanted to add that the Bible says that there will be wolves in sheeps clothing (those who call themselves Christians, but are not). It is still no excuse for unbelief. God will still hold you accountable for rejecting His Son.

I would have to agree with you that too many people get caught up in the Dogma of their religion and argue about trivial details instead of embracing the most important messages of their religion. For Christianity it would be "Love one another as thyself." . Too many people forget Christ's teachings of love. It's unfortunate and sad.
Too many people want to be technically "Right" instead of being spiritual. This is part of the reason that I no longer go to church or believe in organized religion. I believe now in being the best possible person that I can be and I also believe in a higher power than myself. Faith is really all you need.

It is true that most who claim to be Christians fight among themselves.
This proves that they are not TRUE Christians, because Jesus, the founder of Christianity, clearly gives the identitymark of his true followers in John 13:35.
However, did you know that there is a Christian organization that lives up to that identitymark ?
This organization has about 6.5 million members worldwide. Though they have different ethnic backgrounds and come from many walks of life, they have a unique unity.
Because of their love and respect for one another as well as for their fellow humans, they stand neutral in conflicts and wars.
This has made them a target for persecution. During WW II, for an ex, many of their members were placed in Hitlers concentration camps for their refusal to support his army.
Who are they ? Jehovah's witnesses.
You can find out more about this on their official website www.watchtower.org

Religion is not false. People fight amongst themselves constantly. Humans have an inate instinct to individualize themselves and to form groups. It doesn't mean that they are right or wrong in their beliefs. For instance, right and wrong is only determined by the majority. In some countries it is illegal not to be a certain religion. Think about that.

Well, that's just it, your question shows what's missing in your thought processes when you call it "that religion". Christianity is almost as broad a term as democracy is. They argue because of interpretations... just like you argue. It's not a book or religion you should be so worried about as much as whether you decide to allow God into your life- and you should consider that prospect deeply and consider it long, and consider it well... in spite of theologic, humanistic, scientific or philosophic argument. Take your time making your conclusion.

You got to consider the source. Many people claim to be Christians, but do not live like it. Does that mean that they are just becasue they say they are? Why does it mean so much to you anyways?
