After 3 years of treatment to have them straightened, and they are still noticeably crooked, my dentist now says that there is nothing else that can be done, and i would have to pay an additional $3000 to further treatment, is there anything that can be done?? I have rights dont i? They basically took my money and ran. For the record, my teeth were not even that bad for the initial treatment to take 3 years.

I also have to mention that before i paid for this treatment, the office told me that $5000 covered EVERYTHING! and they they attempted to bill my insurance company, which they only recieved like $100 from, but that is still insurance fraud, they wouldnt reimburse me the $100.

You should review the contract you signed with them. That is a lot of money for braces. My children both have braces and one of them really have so many problems all in one. The orthodontist only charged us $2500.00 and not to mention it is even broken down to monthly payments. It includes everything and it includes the retainer for when they get the braces off. You should contact your insurance company and request for an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) and give them the name of the orthodontist and you'll see how much the insurance company actually paid them. Again, review your contract very carefully and gather all infornation and most importantly get the EOB from your insurance comapny. You should be able to fight it and report them to the better business bureau.

Most dental insurance do not cover orthodontics as that is very expensive and as you have discovered runs into big dollars. Unless you got your estimate in writing, there is nothing you can do, and no, you can't really sue them or the insurance for your money. What they consider payment vs what another orthodontist charges may differ, but you did take their services and they are entitle to payment. If you haven't started the treatment, that would be different.

Having teeth straighten does take time, only surgery would be faster. Using braces to force teeth to grow or move in a particular pattern does take time. It doesn't happen overnight and everyone's growth is different, and because of this, there are no guarantee as there are no one plan fits all.

Orthodontics work is never covered. you should have worn your retainer. it's your fault your teeth are crooked again. I think you are a little confused. It's typically 3 years because teeth easily move over time. the longer you have braces, your teeth are firmer in your jaw.

This looks like a colossal screw-up on part of the dentist. Check with an attorney to see if you have any legal recourse.

Did you wear your retainer after they removed your braces? If you did, then you might have a problem. Once they remove the braces, it's up to you to wear the retainer.
