CJ, it was done by Christ out of love.
What I see and the tone I hear here, is certainly NOT the case.

tur b, it's the principle of it...I cannot stand that "holier than thou" attitude. It's repulsive.

We know them by their fruits.
Children of God are children of love.
They follow the commands of love.

CJ if you believe what you say then please read the sermon on the mount. When Jesus God smacked someone it was someone that claimed to know what God was about but didn't. They were called Pharisees. You are a 21st century Pharisee and your mind isn't right. I don't say this in anger or judgment, I say it because I can see no peace nor love nor intention of creating peace or love from any post you have made on this forum.

Luke 6:37
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

This says we die by our own judgments.

John 12:47
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Says the Jesus doesn't Judge.

John 5:22
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

Says that the Father doesn't Judge.
So the answer is that since God is within you and you judge others you condemn yourself.

WAKE UP!

God love you. :)

First I thought you where a misguided Christan? But then I saw Ancient Myths? How sad. They are very Ancient and very True. Proven 100% accurate by Biblical Archeology. But telling a Child under the age of Ten, That they are going to hell? Won't happen. and should not even mentioned. After the age of Ten, They are able to make up their own minds. Accept Jesus Christ or Not. As far as Child Abuse? Isn't everything that happens to a child these days abuse? That's why they are the way the are. SPOILED! God Bless Ya, Chicago Bob imasinner There is more joy in Jesus in one day. Than there is in the World 365/24/7 I know, I tried them both. Numbers 6:24-26

Gnostic saying that CJ is a Modern Day Pharisee is the truest thing I've heard said on R&S today!

I have never taken from the text of the Bible that I am supposed to go around telling everyone who doesn't believe EXACTLY the things I do that they're bound for hell. It's absolutely NOT Christ-like and in my humble opinion, not what Jesus would have me do.

Mama - because you are a practicing Catholic, CJ will hear no truth in anything you say or do - to CJ you're not a saved Christian at all. Just so you know.

I don't get it either. Some christians just push people away from God because of their actions. They think that verbally abusing someone or causing fear is going to make others get closer to God. Jesus never came to earth to push people away but to reason and convince them that his path is the right path but he did it with love.
And like I said long time ago, christians are more easier to lose their life because they have more knowledge than the one that don't know God. God is easier to forgive the ones that don't know him than the ones that know and have not made any change.

Philippians 1:10 that you may make sure of the more important things, so that you may be flawless and not be stumbling others up to the day of Christ

BUt whoever stumbles one of these little ones who put faith in me, it is more beneficial for him to have hung around his neck a millstone such as is turned by an donkey and to be sunk in the wide, open sea.

Who put faith* : ones that have interest in knowing about God

*I will never push away a person that asks questions about God because then I would be responsable for that life.!

It is not what Jesus told us to do. Jesus lived his life as a n example... An example of simply love and obedience. We should likewise live. Judgement is not our place. Jesus said "Let him without sin cast the first stone." Not EVEN HE (A man without sin) cast a stone. Why? Because he loved, he had compassion. We should do the same. Even if you see your sin and don't decide to change it is still not anyone else's place to judge! God is the only one who can see a man's heart. And in the end... Thats what matters. Good Luck!

Hell, by definition, is a "state of separation from God". Come to think of it, in this physical realm, are we not? How can we go to hell when we are already in hell? Other metaphorical definitions of hell aptly apply to our experiences in this realm. The Hindu/Buddhist point of view with regards to hell is that it is not permanent. By karmic influence we may come back to hell many times over. But every return is a better you. I see the "coming back" as a grace from compassionate God for the infinite chance to undo our mistakes. So all of us will eventually experience permanence in spiritual realm/heaven as a matured spirit which started out from innocence and to the life span of ignorance. Jesus shows us the way how to get pass our karmic life. If we believe in Him then we believe His teachings and His actions. We carry our own crosses and He will meet us halfway.

Peace.

I read that he said "Judge not lest you shall be judged". I think they must prove themselves right by belittling others. They do not realize that every judgment cast upon their brother is another nail in their own coffin of death, & that even if they can not put all the pieces together they suffer the same fate they pronounce to their brother. My challenge is to not let them instill anger in me so I am guilty of the same in reverse.

CJ - The teachings of the Catholic Church came from Jesus himself. They are the teachings that he and the apostles taught during their time here on earth. He began the Church 2,000 years ago.

I'm sorry if the true teachings of Jesus don't line up with your own personal interpretation of the Catholic Church's scriptures.

God sent his only son, Jesus, not to condemn the world but to save it.

God loved each one of us so much that even when were lost in the darkness of sin, even when we rejected Him and his light, he came to us, because we could not go to Him.

He came to save us from sin, death and yes, hell. He didn't come to give us niceites, he didn't come to give us happy, waifish, light, thoughts and empty words. He was not merely a moral teacher. He came into this broken world. With all of its pain, tears, selfishness and bleakness. He came into this world where people kill each other and where the innocent die every day. Into a world where unimaginable atrocities happen daily, because of mankinds own blackness. He came into this immense place of suffering and hopelessness. And he felt our pain, the scathing of lonliness, of bitterest rejection, hatred and even physical torment. He came and died a horrible death of a slave, forgiving even those whom killed him to the very end.

The whitest flower which ever existed was crushed underfoot by the darkness and brutality of human nature. But, it rose from its brokeness and could never again be undone. The power of life swallowed the darkness of death. Death was OUR punishment, but he took upon himself our flesh and in turn our punishment.

All for the sake of: Love.

Yes, Jesus came to save us from hell. Only he can judge whom is worthy of hell. He desires everyone to be saved.
