i steamed my carrots for dinner the other day, all the water I used for the steam was green when I was done.?

Why was the water green ?

sounds like the water was reacting with some copper.

Also, yellow could have leached out of the carrots and mixed with something blue... do you know the mineral content of your water?

That came off the carrots. That pretty much happen every time I boil carrots.

Boil some more in a different pan and see. I bet it is just stuff from the carrot.

Did you use a new steamer without cleaning it.? Sometimes new pans have a film over them to keep them from rusting whilst in the shop waiting to be sold.
