There is laways some cause for concern when undergoing a major surgery. You will be fine. I have plenty of experience in this area, and I will tell you, you will be in the Hospital for about 3-5 days. The first day in bed, after that...up and at 'em. They will also use a cpm machine that moves the knee for you. you will be on blood thinning shots post op. The pain is initially bad, but good pain meds will help. By the time you are out of the hospital, you will be on pain pills and the road to recovery. Good Luck!!

My mother had a bilateral total knee replacement (both knees at once) and said the pain of recovery was well worth the relief she got from having no more pain from arthritis and having no more knee cartilidge. She was about 60 yrs at the time.

My grandmother had one of her knees replaced for the same reasons as my mom and she was 84 yrs old.

The recovery takes time and a LOT of rehab work and much pain. However, once that pain is gone THE PAIN IS GONE.

Good luck and I wish you the best!

I had a knee replacement eleven years ago. The pain was significant when I first stood up and walked but I was driving in less than a week and back to work in three weeks. It was the best thing I could have done; the knee is still the best joint in my arthritic body! You'll be just fine!
