Sometimes this happens, though they seem understand it was wrong and are punished sometimes. What makes a teen repeat the same mistakes, promise sincerely he/she won't make it any more, but end up doing again? Is this juat immaturity, part of growing up? How can we know they finally learned from their mistakes. What to do when we think they finally learned?

I think it can depend on the nature of the mistake, but in general I do think it's a part of growing up.

I have a teen and it does seem sometimes like she doesn't learn well from her mistakes, and has repeated them. It's hard as parent to see your teen do this, because you don't want to see them mess up, right?

It's all a part of growing up and learning to be more mature.

Because it is a part of growing up and testing their limits, and they are going to test you make no mistake about it. They are at the age they think they know it all, and everyone over the age of 21 doesn't know a thing.

Because most teenagers act on impulse rather than think. Not a general rule ofcourse but the majority do and they do to their own detriment and sometimes to the detriment of others.
