Yes, I'm retired Coast Guard too.
As a former federal law enforcement officer you could be called upon to do anything.
Some of us were Air Marshalls after 9/11.
Some worked Hurricane Katrina.
And, I suspect that we'll be called upon to help with Illegal Aliens after Bush has gone.

A "Whistleblower" exposes bad practices or policies in govt.

I used to experience like an person-friendly "thank you" replaced into adequate. Having been a civilian for 8 years now, I no longer think of so. i think of the terrific thank you to assert thank you to the infantrymen is to be heard. Make a fact, loud and clean, and get into newspapers, or on the information. i'm uninterested in the Media trashing the militia, touting blatant lies and skewed figures, and refusing to instruct the actual memories. the faculties, hospitals, libraries, etc. that we've geared up in Iraq. the way the Iraqi human beings, as an entire, are rather grateful. Who gets the clicking? That terrible "church" that pickets the funerals of fallen infantrymen. that's time that individuals start up retaining the media responsible, and start up up combating returned. i'm uninterested in getting my abdomen churned each time I turn on the television.

I guess it all depends on whose whistle is being blown. Snitching out the guy next-door because he said Bush is a Terrorist, is not the same as snitching out your congressmen for taking payola.

I would hope that our military / ex- military is not in the habit of recording “Political views” expressed by “we the people”.

I wouldn't be surprised. There are ethical obligations in many professions. It was attorneys who brought out the concerns with Guantanamo conditions of review, etc., presumably due to their obligations as officers of the court. I don't see why that wouldn't apply to officers of our federal law enforcement/military as well.

They are obligated to report wrongdoing from the moment they take the oath. But it's only retirement that truly frees them to do it.
