So, I got 7 shots of novacaine from the dentist around 7:45. The numbing has just recently gone away (12:45), and I was wondering when the really really painful soreness of my jaw will go away.

I can barely open my mouth until I can't any more. On the left side, between my upper and lower jaws, there's what feels like a tendon and it is really sore. If I force my mouth open with my fingers it hurts the tendon. It also really hurts to swallow anything, even saliva. Why is this like this? Should I be concerned?

I didn't get anything done, either. They wouldn't drill me because I could still feel pain in my lips and feel when I would get poked with that hook like tool.

Also, it hurts really really bad. I just took 2 500mg pain relievers. I hope the pain will be tolerable soon. I can't even think about anything else...

ask your dentist what you can take for pain...usually they will tell you to take tylenol or something similar....topically you can use orajel and it will take a day or two for the pain to subside depending on what type of procedure you had done...i.e. extraction, canal, fillings, deep root cleaning.... and how deep they had to go....etc

Hello,
You got a bit too much anesthetic, with time this will get better and the swelling go away. @ 24 hours ice applied to the side of the jaw will be useful afterward, ibuprofen (Advil) together with the use of warm, moist washcloths will be of greater benefit. You will be OK.
