I wouldn't, but let me take a stab at this (lightly)

To change him?

My very-Christian mother married a life-long atheist and stayed married for 53 years till my dad died. She never tried hard to "convert" him. Although my father professed no particular religion or even believed in God, his behavior and demeanor were very Christian throughout his life.

Conversely, we regularly read or hear about Christian couples who beat...or even murder their spouse. Most Christians in the U.S. get divorced or cheat sometime during their marriage.

So, being a Christian doesn't make one perfectly good any more than being an atheist makes another incurably bad.

Most people fail miserably at trying to live up to the meaning of "being a 'true' Christian" as Jesus would define it.

Jesus hung out with sinners and people who thought He was a crackpot. Sinners, doubters, and atheists are the reason Jesus became incarnate in the first place.

I wouldn't consider the "desire to date an atheist" a proverbial litmus test to see if someone is a "true" Christian.

What happens if two atheists are dating and one of them becomes a Christian?

Not that I'm encouraging the act of being "unequally yoked." I'm not; I'm a firm believer that Christians should date Christians. I'm just saying that the desire to date outside the faith isn't a way to test someone to see if they are Christian or not.

Why are they not true because they love someone that is not christian. Yes in the bible it says you should not, but it also says don't lie, steal or judge yet we still do that. I am not perfect, but I try to live my life for christ, if I chose to date an atheist that is my choice, and me and God's thing to deal with. You have no right to say that anyone who does date them is not a TRUE christian, and in saying that you must not be one eaither.

Depends on your definition of "true" Christian. I define a true Christian as somebody who believe in Christ and gives their life to Christ. With that said, there are many reasons then to date an atheist...

1. LOVE
2. COMPANIONSHIP
3. COMFORT
4. SUPPORT
5. FUTURE FAMILY
6. COMMUNITY
7. GOD LIVES IN THEM

That's just a few that I could think of but I'm sure there are many many more. Be blessed!!

How do you know they're an atheist until you get to know them? Do you have a sign round your neck saying "No atheists please?"
Anyway, why don't you try it - you might learn something!

An atheist

Because despite what you think, there are some wonderful people out there who just don't believe in God, plain and simple. I would never decide not to date someone solely based on his lack of religious beliefs, that is what we call narrow-mindedness.

i wouldnt mind dating an Atheist. Love can happen any time, so why would i ditch love just because we have different beliefs?

Because Atheists have more baggage downstairs.

Because they're attracted to each other, maybe even in love? That's usually why people date each other.

The more logical thing would be to reverse this question I think.
