I am currently taking an acid reflux medication for the next 6 weeks. However, I am curious if there are any beneficial foods that will also help? My throat is closing up a lot lately, and although I have eliminated my caffeine intake, it is still bothering me.

the problem with reflux is putting anything in your stomach will cause it to worsen. Suggest you be careful about eating smaller amounts more frequently, remain sitting upright for at least thirty minutes after eating or drinking, no flopping on the couch with snacks, or eating just before bed. Make gravity your friend. Before bed take some maalox to coat your esophagus.

Apple sauce, saltine crackers, gatorade (the opaque ones), pepcid complete (that's the best)... drink a lot of water...

And, you need to let your doctor know of your throat closing up. This can be a really bad side effect. It might not be just caffeine.

I have a friend who swears by drinkable aloe. Contact me and I can let you know how to get some of what she uses.
