what gun would you buy? the gun can't be a $1048 gun because it has to total this much inlcluding taxes and backround checks, and of course you want plenty of ammo to break it in.
this is the money that i dont have to save away from my summer job.
Just wondering what you would buy, give three answers if you want: pistol, rifle, and shotgun

I have to admit to having to buy another Remington 700 every now and then, so you have a good choice there. I really don't need another, but I didn't need the last one I bought, either. My next rifle, I may opt for the CZ 550 in 416 Rigby, but it'll probably push past your budget getting it into hunting shape.
My choice for my next shotgun may also be a CZ. I've been looking at their little Bobwhite English-style side-by-side in 28 bore as a fun little gun to play with.
I'm not that much of a pistolero, so adding to them would be a low-budget affair. If I wanted to spend that kind of money, though, I'd probably get two less expensive handguns, Rugers: a Single Six and a Blackhawk in 41 magnum.

you never said what kind of guns you wanted.if i had to pick just one handgun it would be a colt 45auto ,model gold cup.they are very sweet guns.\
everyone is partial to their favorite brand. if you are new then it would be best to stick with a standard brand.a remington 700 in whatever caliber you like. this will leave you enough money to get a good leupold scope.
all shotguns are somewhat alike.name brands now are extremely expensive.i would get a 12 guage in whatever brand you liked.
varmit rifles will be the most used rifle you will own.my favorite all around is the 22mag.the .17 is becoming very popular.you could get both rifles and have money to get good scopes for both guns.
there are so many black powder rifles it is hard to choose. i would choose a very reliable brand and that would be a thompson center.
we could go on and on but the choice is up to you and then you will know the prices you want to spend.---retired texas deputy sheriff---

for a shotgun i have a maverick 88 6 shot Security model($200) that i hunt with, a "used" Savage m110 in .270 that was shot 5 or 6 times that picked up at the gun shop for $275. i can't own a pistol because I'm under 21 but my uncle snatched a Taurus M66 in 357. mag for around $450. i personally like it because it has a 7 shot cylinder. this all comes to roughly $925.

What would I buy? I'd buy a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 magnum with a 9.5 inch barrel. What should you buy? That's a whole different issue. What do you want to hunt? A 20 gauge Mossberg 500 with enough ammunition to hunt quail, and pheasant for a season would be great. Ducks and geese, go for the Mossberg 835. I would suggest a Savage rifle in .308 as a general purpose hunting rifle. Buy the weapon but leave yourself enough money to use it.

I would buy a Remington 700 CDL in .270 Winchester $850(Don't Quote Me)
Then I would put a Leupold VX-I 3-9 $239.99
Then I would spend the rest(174.01) on ammo. 200 rounds in Bulk $160 and then the last $14 on a box of good ammo.

Rifle :Lee Enfield Mk 4 chambered In 30.06.price varies but I doubt it would exceed 1000.If I had enough left Over I would buy a nice scope for it too
Shotgun :Mossberg 500 3 in 1 kit.couple hundred
Revolver: S&W 627 chambered in 357 magnum with cherry wood hogue grips and a ribbed barrel in the longest length (not sure if it is 6 inchs or 8 inchs)
auto pistol:Mauser C-96 in 9mm.( with the 20 round box mag)
All of them except the mossberg I imagine would be in 500$ to 800$ area based on what I have seen on gunbroker.

I would get a Mossberg 12ga..$199
Mossberg ATR .270 $225
for a pistol would look into a 9 or 40 in the $350 range...
That would leave you about $200 in ammo...

Shotgun:you can hunt just about everything if you get one with interchangeable barrels one smoothbore the other (rifled barrel for deer hunting)as far as rifles,I have a.270win very accurate i regularly shoot deer at 300yds and could probably shoot out to 500yds if i could find a range with that kind of distance, the reason why, very little kick. hope this helps
