Well, the reason I attend a particular congregation is that I believe God has called me to be there. It happens to be a Lutheran congregation and there are a lot of things about the congregation that don't suit my personal preferences, but, regardless, that's where he's called me to be, so there I am, every Sunday, plus I serve on boards, sing in the Praise Team, help lead a Bible study, stuff like that.

I'm not sure that he has called me to the Lutheran church, however, when I was a child and had no religious training at all and lived in an extremely tense and bitter family, I was definitely affected by a TV show called "Davy and Goliath" which I found out later was produced by Lutherans, and the woman who I fell in love with and married turned out to be Lutheran. That was before I became a Christian, so I came to Christ through the Lutheran church.

My parents taught me very early - (particularly since we were always moving all over the US due to dad's job...) that it was of paramount importance to know that we were being led to a particular Church by the Holy Spirit before we joined.

We were not to rely on whether we liked the preacher, or how pretty the music, or decor... it was always about God's purpose alone.

I have vivid memories of being led so powerfully to some of our past fellowships - that I had to hold on to the pew white-knuckled at times, to keep from running down to the altar mid-sermon.

Some Churches were not what I wanted to be a part of, but obedience to God always resulted in wonderful blessings. I was privileged to learn some things at these churches I could not get in another fellowship because of available resources.

Everyone needs to be in prayer for GOD to lead your choice... and to trust in His knowledge of things to come.

Peace.

I never used to go to church (apart from Sunday school days) but I felt very drawn to go after I had my son. I chose the Church of England because it was where I had often thought I'd rather be going to as a child. (I went to baptist sunday school and was annoyed when they wouldn't baptise me.) Looking back I feel I was definitely called to go to CofE, I find it spiritually suits me and I can't imagine not going now.

I went to a church in West Covina, CA and the pastor's brother was opening a new church in Brea so we went over to help out a bit, ended up LOVING it, and have remained there for almost three years!
