Well according to Genesis 7:8-9, the animals "came" to Noah. He didn't go get them. How that was accomplished, it doesn't say.
"8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded."

God works in mysterious ways and I believe He called all the animals to the boat because no one animal would go willingly on a boat 2 by 2's. And after all the animals and Noah and His family were on the boat God shut the door with His Word.
