I guess it depends what you're after. USA has much cheaper cost of living generally but Ireland has national health care- so cost of living kind of just depends on your health! for most people usa would win, but some get totally screwed there by the health care costs. The people are friendly in both places, but still quite different. The Irish are more humble and world-wise, whereas Americans are prone to arrogance and ignorance about anything outside their own country (Im sure most of the ones on here saying how much better America is havent ever even been to Ireland!)... There's plenty more factors to consider, but I'd say both are great places and it just depends the sort of person you are, there is no easy answer;.

Don't know anything about Ireland. I'm staying right here in the country where I am a natural born citizen... the USA.

There's PLENTY of guns in Ireland! (oops!)
I have dual US/Irish Citizenship as my grandparents came from Donegal, Ireland near where "Enya" is from.
I had to apply for it at the Irish Consul in Boston.
I had to have all the paperwork showing that they came to the US Legally as well.
So, I can live in either country.
I live in the U.S. because it's a lot cheaper to live here.
Gasoline is about $5 per gallon there in Ireland and auto insurance very expensive.
But, the scenery is spectacular and the people are wonderfull.
And I love the music.

If Dubya rewrites the constitution like he's done since his first day in office and appoints himself Head Dicktatior, so long USA, hello Ireland or Austria.

I'm biased as I'm American.

The advantage of the USA is that there is relatively cheap access to college and anyone can make money here (if they are here legally) if they work hard and just move from job to job after a certain amount of time.
