OK So I have an old pc that I am giving to someone in Puerto Rico. The pc runs on Windows 98. The person only speaks spanish. I know how to work a computer, but I am not a genius. I never had to do it, bu t I thought I could change it to spanish, now I see that I can't. I changed the keyboard to type spanish letters & I also changed the date/time/currency to Puerto Rico. & I made the computer multilanguage compatible, but I cant get it in spanish. Now I am wondering if the computer needs to be in spanish or if the system(windows) needs to be in spanish. If it is the computer, obviously I cant change it. If it is the system please advise what I need. Thank you, The most helpful gets best answer.

Wow thanks for all the answers! I usually dont get that many responses so quickly!

So they would need a version of windows in spanish? So then would all the other programs stay in english unless they are bought in spanish as well? & If they install the new spanish windows will that delete the existing programs? Just wondering. Thank you.

Also that Kubuntu is quite interesting I never heard of it... Is it a complete operting system like windows? Have u tried it? Is it good? Thanks

Your friend in Puerto Rico will have to find a Spanish version of 98 or XP.

OR, they could use Kubuntu Linux instead. It is available free in most languages from:

Hi, yeah sorry to say this but u won't be able to convert Windows to Spanish on ur own u see because if the region u bought Windows 98 is English speaking in majority then Microsoft never provides another language. You could only have got Windows 98 in Spanish if u bought it in Puerto Rico then while booting on the boot logo it would say Spanish enabled. Whatever u have changed so far is good enough I think or u may want to try and buy Windows 98 Spanish edition on ebay or something, it will be pretty cheap by now.
Good Luck and take care!

See if a community laptop provider center can backup your present day laptop information, like your data, (%., track, significant data or application) and in basic terms improve your working equipment to XP? it may be extra fee-effective than a clean laptop, Vista sucks so sidestep it like the plague, then feed all your backed up products onto the recent XP on your laptop. that's what i could do...ME by no capacity relatively had any help obtainable for it.

You will need to purchase the version of Windows in Spanish. This also applies to any other applications like Microsoft Office.

For Windows 98 its going to be tricky if not impossible.

For XP its straightforward enough, just go to the Microsoft link below:
