If you're into comedy and you've already seen the Dane Cook stuff too many times, try watching Katt Williams (Katt Williams LIVE or The Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1)... now, that guy is hilarious. I've never watched him and felt down afterward. As far as the other things you said, you are NOT hopeless. Your doctor would not give up on you, and you shouldn't give up on you.

I don't know what your problems are, but depression is not fun. Sometimes laughing is not the answer. Trying to find the source of your depression would be much more beneficial to you. I don't know why your dr. had not returned your calls. If he does not, I would change drs. No one is hopeless. You need to find your innerself and strength to go on in life and try to find something to keep you busy. Depression gets worse when you have nothing to do. Is your depression clinical, or a chemical imbalance? If it is a chemical imbalance than meds will help. IF it is clinical, counseling and meds may help. Working through depression and hopeless feelings are very hard to do, a support group would help you too. I went to one and it helped me alot. Seek help elsewhere if you get no responses. keep trying and don't give up. There is a life out there for you, you just have to find it.

Please give Dr Candice Pert PHD. She has changed the whole world of how we think about emotions. Her worked has proven emotions are addictive and won the Nobel for her work. She has a couple of books and a pod cast. There is a lot you can do and no one is hopeless. You can laugh again you can feel better. First you may want to know how to do it and why we get stuck in addictive cycles. So maybe this DR. is not the right doctor for you. But I bet if you Look at Perts work you will know what to do with you. At the very least it will give you a new starting point.
Best of luck

Comedy movies/serials/shows are good.
But best are comic books like asterix.
Unfortunately you cant watch/read the same thing again and again.
I also find Archie comics really funny. Some are too good. And there are so many of them. Comic books take so little time to read. In case you have free internet access you can get comic books free if you know where to look.
Well it may be unethical but usually these books are such old issues. And really if something causes happiness to lots of people it must be good.
And I don't think any shrink is such a good deal. Someday you got to realize that if you don't take medication / therapy all you need is to watch your own mood / sleep be careful. Know that there will be bad days. Recognize them. Bear them. And try to be cheerful, positive, alert. Yes you can be happy on your own if you want to. All the best.

I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through.I've been there and suffer from depression.I would call your doctors nurse or even talk to the receptionist, and tell them this is an emergency. You are NOT hopeless, you most likely have the wrong doctor. However, this is happening now,so you need help now!I can tell you I know how you feel, honestly I do.You try that, and if it does not work,go to the hospital right away. It's really bad to be in this situation, but you do'nt have time to go get another doc.and wait to see him etc.Talk to the receptionist, she will get you a real live voice.Hang on,i care about what you're going through!!!!

I find it easy to laugh at myself. I am a totally nut bar, so laughing just comes natural. Find something humerous in everyday life. Go online and look up good jokes, make fun of someone in the park even tho that isnt very nice. My friend once fell down lost her soda but saved her ciggy, I thought that was hillarious... All she could do was roll around on the graound. Oh and one time well this is embarrassing but I laughed so much I had to throw my undies away at Ingles.. LOL yep I pee'd

Laughter should be a spontaneous thing. Watch the movie Patch Adams or a humorous movie. Hang out with friends you enjoy being with. Play sports and get your mind off your problem. Write letters, poems, listen to soothing music, etc. Maybe your DR is on his/her day off. Give yourself a break- have fun outdoors or talk to someone. Do not worry- tomorrow will worry about itself. Cheer up! -yunesa@yahoo.com

You could strip the clothes off of the first guy who left you a note telling you to look in the mirror, and laugh insanely at his nude body. There's bound to be a million laughs there!
I am guessing:
Man boobs that jiggle when he giggles
Non-existent penis
More hair in his ******** than a sheep has wool
I really could go on all night......
Many doctors are like yours, unfortunately. If yours has given up, it's time for a new one.

you need to look into yourself and find what it is your stuck on..
my friends got a similiar situation.
perhaps you should switch jobs, start volunteering somewhere. ..
life could always be worse.. im sure there are many people out in the world who are jealous of your situation. . .
doctors are not the cure all ... most of them are only truely interested in their selves..
it is up to you to help yourself. deep down you DO know what is bothering you. you need to be honest and look deep. .
untill you do soul searching you will never become better. .
self help works much better that pills that mask your sadness..
good luck!!
