Can someone analyze this quote and tell me it's significance in The Kite Runner?

“You’ll never learn anything of value from those bearded idiots… Piss on the beards of all those self-righteous monkeys… They do nothing but thumb their prayer beads and recite a book written in a tongue they don’t understand… Now, no matter what the mullah teaches, there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft.” – Baba, page 17

That means that the old men never do anything but "pray" by reciting words from the Quran (muslim holy book) and praying with the beads. The beads are from a long necklace that muslims use to pray with. They just thumb every bead and pray. There are saying that the bearded people don't teach good and that there is only one sin, which is theft. I am muslim an afghan, so I know. And the name "baba" means father.
