Yes, I included a link to the Remington website which shows what some of their bullet's factory loaded specs are. According to Remington, at 100 yards, one of their 55grain vmax bullets still has 995 ft/lbs of energy at 100 yards, which is down from 1282 @ the muzzle. Their 69 grain BTHP is at 1133 ft/lbs at 100 yards and carries close to 500 ft/lbs @ 500 yards. Not bad for a 223 Rem!

If you include other 224 calibers, you can get slightly higher 100 yard figures at around 1200 ft/lbs.

According to Winchester's site it can produce over 1000 fp. And because of your previous question I am going to make an assumption. Yes, the .223 has a lot more energy at 100 yards than calibers that are usually considered adequate deer calibers (including the .44 Magnum in a pistol). So, can you take a deer with .223? Yes, with the right shot placement and a good hunting bullet. Something else to remember if you're going to try, the heavier target bullets don't stabilize in most sporting barrels.

Some loads will still have 900 or more ft lbs energy at 100 yards. It depends on the weight of the bullet and the speed at which the bullet leaves the muzzle.
The standard load 55 grain bullet launched at 3300 fps has 1006 ft lbs energy at 100 yards.

It does in most load, but I have to ask why you'd care. Kinetic energy isn't a very good guide to field performance. The numbers seem to be published simply as a marketing tool.

Yes, like LawGunGuy says it does and remington has a good ballistics site that he included.

Rifle shells vary depending on the load in them and the type and weight of bullet in the shell. I am sure there are more factors involved.

I would believe it.

I have one and by no means is it like a .22

I shot through 10 phone books and blew a hole in my carpet. Needless to say, I was drop jawed.
