He didn't have a degree - he had a substantial amount of incredible life experience.
Other people however do hold degrees to enable them to work with animals. These include zoology, animal science, veterinary science, marine biology, etc... the list could go on. If you are interested in working with animals in the future, I suggest getting as much experience as you can, and voluntary work is the best place to start. Contact your local vet, sanctuary, zoo, and so forth to learn about opportunities.

He didn't have "official" degrees, but everyone has a special talent or gift, and his was his rapport and bond with animals.
It seems to have also been passed on to his daughter Bindi, thank goodness, as our animals need all the protection they can get!!

He had a natural talent and a great love of living creatures which his used wisely and compassionately to make life easier for all creatures big and small.He did not need a degree.

His family owned a wildlife park and he grow up there so had been in conatct with animals his whole life, just the same as how his kids live within the zoo.

He didn't have a degree. It was what he learned from his father and his enthusiasm for nature that made him who he was. You can see the same in Bindi Sue.
