Canada
I spent over three years looking hard for a job in Canada through the internet. I studied a lot about the Country. It was very hard but I found a job approved by HRSDC, in February of this year, to work in Edmonton, Alberta.
I submitted all required documentation to the canadian consulate but the immigration officer refused my work permit. He said that I do not have strong economic ties to my country.
I tried to go legally and I did everything within the law and I had employer and place to stay but what was the advantage of doing that legally?

I can't just go and live in any country I want to. I can't just go to Canada or Africa or Mexico and say "I want to work....you must take me and my family and educate my kids and give me everything I want because I have arrived." Try it and see what happens. Go ANYPLACE else....especially in masses of millions in a short time and see what happens. Hey....Russia is having a shortage of young people because of their aging population. China has a shortage of women. We aren't the ONLY continent on this earth that has some "need". Go there. Spread the wealth around. Then we'll see how laws work and who has the right to just wonder at will across the planet. I do not abuse Mexicans. Seperate the citizens from corporate greed and government deals. It's a little tough to try the abuse route when people are begging to be abused. So your thinking doesn't fly.

I really wish I could understand your rant, because in there somewhere I'm sure lies a legitimate question. I could care less about legal immigration from Mexico, Russia, China or any other country. Without immigration, the US population would be declining at a point in our history when our economy and labor force need to grow.
Human rights are just that, HUMAN RIGHTS. Remember it's one of the reasons we went to war against Iraq under Saddam Hussein. Now civil rights is another story. The rights guaranteed to every American under the Constitution of the United States of America and it's subsequent amendments as enforced by our Judicial branch of government, should be just that, rights of American citizens and those in the USA legally. Generally those rights are even extended to illegal aliens under our overwhelming sense of fairness and demand for due process.
Now I do have a problem with is the illegal immigrants, regardless of national origin; the security risk that is perpetuated by our leaky borders both Northern and Southern.
I have a problem with any US Citizen that identifies themselves as loyal to any other government, if you're a US citizen don't call yourself Mexican, German, Russian or any other nationality.
If you say you are of Mexican descent, I have no problem with that, I think it's important to remember where your family came from and why in order to appreciate what a priviledge it is to be an American.
I have a problem with Hispanic people expecting me to speak Spanish here in the USA. When I go to Mexico, I'll be sure to take my English to Spanish dictionary, as I certainly would not have the nerve to expect the Mexican National in Mexico to speak English to accomodate me.
All of my opinions, I feel are civilized, and justified. I am actually in favor of the USA adopting a few of the immigration laws of Mexico. They really frown on illegal workers down there!

Civilization is based on respect for the law. Flagrant abuse of a nation's law is wrong and serves that nation an ill-purpose.
Go to China or Russia and break their laws. Better yet, go to Mexico and break their laws. Enjoy their prison system. The citizens of the US are only wanting what citizens of other nations want...our laws enforced.

You're funny!
By your logic we should just allow any person in the world who can manage to break into this country the REWARD of citizenship.
With your immigration laws we would have about 2 billion people by now, be totally bankrupt, have a standard of living below sub saharan african nations and millions would be fleeing every year instead of wanting to come here.
But maybe you are just racist and only want to allow MEXICANS to come here and stay illegally.

America is not a home for people who can not follow rules or laws. If a person can legally come here then they are welcome. The people that think they can cut in line and sneak across the border don't belong here. The only right that Illegal Aliens have is the right to leave this country and never return. I do not believe in rewarding people for doing something illegal.

First of all, contrary to what some people like to think, foreigners do not have a right to all the protection of the Constitution. As for dealing with Mexicans on a civilized level. What makes you think we aren't? Because we do not agree with you? Why don't you get over it? Then we would not have to, how is it only those who agree with you are civilized? I suggest you take a hard look at yourself before you presume to judge me!

Our immigration laws are not against human rights. Would you just have open borders and a free-for-all of all kinds of undesirables coming across the border?
I'm not saying all immigrants are undesirable, but that is what immigration laws and policies are for. This is OUR country, we should have the right to decide who we allow in and who we don't.
BTW, Mexican is NOT a race. They are citizens of a country.

I feel that no matter what the legal status of a person. A human being has the right to be treated with respect and dignity. The only way to fix this immigration problem is by having a “comprehensive immigration reform” But there has been a continued support of worksite raids which have had terrible repercussions, including the separation of children from their parents, increased racial profiling and intimidation, and a growing sense of fear throughout the nation’s immigrant communities. A better starting point for repairs to our immigration system would include adjusting the status of undocumented immigrants, supporting family reunification, and enforcing labor laws that protect immigrant and non-immigrants alike.
