It has everything to do with something that your pet dog has- anal sacs. The anal sacs need to be emptied regularly. Some dogs will lick the area around their anus, some breeds can so this regularly just through defecation, groomers and vets will perform this function with each appointment you made for your dog, and last but not the least, the dogs themselves will attempt this on their own by- you guessed it- chasing their tails.

Thers quite a sensible question then a rambling that looks like a drunk tramp wrote it underneath! Maybe coz there tail itches and they cant scratch it so they try to bite it!!

The see something moving behind them that always moves when try to get a better look. So they go faster to try to catch this thing.
Same thing happened when I circled a tennis ball around my little sister.
