that they adapt to the times and develop as a people?
that they are willing to accept when they have things wrong?
That they are open minded and flexible?
That they are not stuck in the dark ages?
That the christian world has grown beyond crusades, jihads and slaughter?
Don't get me wrong... I'm not even a christian... I'm agnostic but when I see the state of the world, it's quite clear that the western, mainly christian world is decades, if no centuries ahead... The "true" islamic world that you describe (and by that I mean extremists as you clearly are) is commiting the same crimes and making the same mistakes as early christianity did... and that even todays christian extremeists also do.
Perhaps one day these extremists, on BOTH sides will catch up with the rest of us... in the meantime, lets just hope they don't take us all down with them...

The christian faith doesn't rewrite its beliefs. What you're talking about is the catholic church. Christianity is not an organized religion. There are many different churches that can be called christian including the catholic church (allegedly, I don't think it is).
The islam also rewrites its beliefs, or reinterprets them if you like. If you go through the coran, you'll see that the ideas change and, if seen in relation with the time when each part was written, it makes sense. The same happens to the bible, even the old testament. Prostitution was totally accepted at one time and not at other. Murderers are forgiven by god or damned. The commandments are three, seven, twelve and not always the same.
Then you have interpretation. And human nature plays a huge part here. If you base your religion on these books that changes from chapter to chapter and sometimes contradict themselves, you can pick whatever part you like. And if you read carefully, you're going to find justification for anything your heart desires.
What you call a stronger faith is a perception from a western urban perspective. The same stronger faith was found in urban medieval environments under the catholic rule.
Most of the islam is living hundred years behind in the civilization evolution. And before the flaming starts, I'm not saying that this is better or worse. It's just different. Western URBAN civilization gave us a different lifestyle with a lot more alternatives. Our minds are used to change and options.
A limited life with few variables makes us more likely to accept dogma, not true faith, dogma.

Not only is what you have premised completely untrue, the exact opposite is the reality. As a matter of fact it is why I have totally rejected "religionism" altogether.. because Christianity, exactly like Islam, has refused to evolve with the passing of the centuries. The Mantra for both is just the same......"The Faith cannot change, because it is founded on dogma that are fixed and unchangeable" Religious fundamentalists actually do believe that we are supposed to live exactly like people lived thousands of years ago when that particular religion came into existence. Islam preaches this, and so does Christianity, and another thing they both have in common is the fact that the higher a person gets up the religious totem pole, the more he talks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time. The ordinary "christian/muslim in the streets" so to speak is told he must do this and sacrifice that, and obey such and such. The guys at the top... the "rule makers; the dogmatists, the "princes of faith", the "movers and shakers" all get to live a pretty cosy life. The same applies to all other religions and mystical belief systems --- it's a totem pole with the "grunts" at the bottom obeying the rules, and the self-appointed "godheads" at the top pulling all the puppet strings.

Islam is not two thousand years old it is a lot younger than that. The Christian beliefs have not changed the faith, nor the books. What we have today is what was written forty-five hundred years ago, and what was written two thousand years ago.
The physical evidence in Archaeology, as well as history shows that quite clearly. But there are those with eyes that will not see.
Many a so called Christian, the ones who pay lip service to God are changing the policies of their parish to accommodate more lip service but are they Christians? Really....you have to ask yourself " are the oranges now calling themselves apples"?
Take the Anglican parishes, they are fighting over homosexual marriages. That shouldn't even be on the agenda of a Christian parish!!
But they do call themselves Christians don't they?
Look to your own backyard before you go pissing in your neighbours well.
Okay?
Good ...now go and get on with a good life. A righteous life under the laws you live by, because unless your faith is given over to the Christ then come the judgement day you will be judged by the law!!
I do hope you can keep it every single day of your life.

After the prophet Mohammad died, they had a rebellion and books were changed and altered just like the Christians through out history.
The law and the prophets from the most high God is:
Looking for the good of others and things.
Truth in our everyday life with others
To be right towards others..
This is to except and do the Spirit of thr most high God..
The only ones that are doing that on a daily basis is A.A and N.A. etc..
However they do not confess God in their lives by standing against evil done to others and things..
evil= over done/undo loss of any ones physical, material, emotional, spiritual well being, for my gain, non gain, groups or organizations
They are told not to judge at all..
JESUS SAID:
Lu 12:54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
Lu 12:55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
Lu 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
Lu 12:57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
Also
Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Saying that the ENTIRE Christian faith does any one thing in this case "bows to public pressure and rewrites its beliefs to appease public opinion." would be the same as saying all Muslims are Kharijites.
It's unfair to take the views of some members of a faith and apply there views to the entirety of that population.

I have never seen a change in the Christian belief that I follow. You need to explain what change you are talking about and which Christian denomination you are talking about.
It is pretty basic belief:
Man has fallen from the image of God.
God gave a promise to man that he would send a Savior.
God said he would come in the volume of a book. (Bible)
Promised he would pour out his Spirit on flesh.
Sent the Savior as Jesus Christ.
He lived to show us what that image is that we lost.
He died to cover our sin that we might receive the Spirit.
He rose from the dead by the Spirit of God so he could send the Spirit.
He is seated at the right hand of the power of God so he can build a pure and holy church using the volume of a book to teach us how.
Amen.

Wrong:
First, Islam is not 2000 years old.
Second, the Catholic Church does not change Dogma. That is a fact. Lesser traditions and practices change from time to time, but never Church dogma. Dogmas are infallibly defined truths of the Catholc Faith. If the Church changed them (which She would never do) then the Church would be contradicting its own teaching about infallibility.

This is your assertion but I'd tend to disagree with it. In any case, belief in a non-existent god whether steadfast or not is not a good thing.
We're still waiting for Islamic leaders to stand up and set the example against terrorism and intolerance.

You didn't give any examples of Christianity bowing to public pressure . It's so easy to say something, but so hard to give examples.
You're right about Islam being stuck in their mind-set. They not only live in Midieval times - - - they think in Midieval times.
What does that say about Islam ?
