What is the best way to go from the airport to a Skytrain station? I mean inexpensive buses.

I flew into Dom Muang a couple of months ago on a Thai flight and there was a free shuttle bus service from the Airport to the start of the Underground Line which links with the Skytrain. Although the shuttle is timetabled to Thai flights, I don't see anything to stop you using it if you are on a different Airline.
When you exit the baggage hall turn left and the bus stop is about 50m.

For 35 baht, you can take the following:

Bus 552 which will take you to the On Nut Station of the BTS or Bus 551 which will take you to the Victory Monument and there is a BTS station there.

For 150 baht you can take the airconditioned airport express buses:

Either AE1, AE3 or AE4 will stop near a BTS station.

And for 150-250 baht you can take a taxi directly to where you want to go in Bangkok plus the 50 baht airport fee.

If you arrive near rush hour 5 to 6 pm in Bangkok. Might be wise to take the Airport Express or a taxi at least they have Aircon. The trip could take a while, it is normally a 30-45 minute trip to most hotels in Bangkok, at rush hour, it could 1-2 hours.

Good luck
