ok here's the deal...i live in texas...when i lived in california, they had this system where when you get a ticket you get points taken off (unless you take traffic school) your license and if you get so many taken off you get your license suspended. OK, so, does texas do that too? I got into a car accident and it was my fault..do they take points off too? im really scared of getting my license suspended cuz i only have 4 left!!!

Oh, that is kind of scary! You don't want a suspended license in Texas. :(

Texas' system is a little different.. instead, you get points added on instead of taken off. Anything you have from California that is less than three years old will have to be included in your count. So say you had four points 'removed' in Cali for different violations, you'll start off in Texas already with four points.

Here is the table for violations & suspensions in Texas:

-At least four (4) convictions for moving traffic violations within a twelve (12) month period.
- At least seven (7) convictions for moving traffic violations within a twenty-four (24) month period.

If you exceed either of these, you get an automatic suspension.

As for the accidents.. no points are given when you're in an accident unless a ticket was issued. So if you got in the accident but no ticket was given to you for it, points wise, you're fine. Though in Texas they get violation-happy and rarely send anyone off without at least a Failure to Yield, Running Stop Sign, or Careless Driving vio.

Good luck!!

It's probably best to get a copy of your driving record, I'm sure they will have your points already in their system.

Take care sweetie...I know this can be scarey when it comes to driving, and we all try our best to be careful.

site visitors crimes are crimes. people who commit site visitors crimes are criminals. people who pay fines for site visitors crimes, achieve this by ability of pleading to blame, frequently by ability of mail, and and thereby replace into convicted criminals.
