I think the character Jesus showed no signs of having a sense of humor, because the writers didn't give him one. As for a real person named Jesus, sure, I know lots of funny Jesus'. I know you're talking about The Jesus of Nazareth, or was it Bethlehem, or Egypt, or Galilee? Either way, I don't see a reason to believe that he was an actual person.
If he was, then people would call him by the name given to him at birth or the name that they identified themselves with, the way we identify other famous people such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Tiberius Caeasar, Constantine, Columbus, George Washington, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Buddha, Gilgamesh, Homer, and you & I. You wouldn't want your children calling you Jimbillius, would you? Would you want anyone to identify you or your family by the name Jimbillius? Would know that someone was refering to George Washington by them mentioning Jimbillius Logger? So why do you accept Jesus Christ as the name of the Jewish person with a Jewish name that is NOT Jesus Christ?
As for the weight of the world on his shoulders, it's a matter of perspective. If you think that it would be a heavy burden for you so it must have been heavy for him, then you're assuming that he was just a human. If you think of it in a way that says "if he can create all the universe in a matter of days, and hold up all the stars of the heavens and keep all the planets orbiting their specific stars and keep all of the natural laws of earth consistent, then you realize that earth, and humans, should not be any kind of weight at all. Oh, but what about sin? Does it hurt you to forgive your friends and family for placing a cup on the table without using a coaster? Do you have to kill someone to forgive them of that offense? No? Then why would a god who's supposed to be loving have a problem forgiving your daily transgressions? It isn't like what ever you did killed it, or even took away from it's power in the slightest.

I imagine him as a black african with a big smile on his face, but if he witnessed any sin, that would be a serious matter b/c he is God(The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit).
In the Gospel there was a time that the teachers of the law brought a woman to him, saying that she was caught in the act of adultery, and she needed to be stoned, but Jesus showed his mercy: He said, he who has committed no sin may throw the first stone, so the only one who could throw the first stone was Jesus. He let her go, but told her to sin no more. He took the sin seriously but also showed the grace of God

He was focussed on His mission and how to do it. He was serious in the delivery of his message and during the conversation with the jews religious leaders, also when correcting his disciples. However, I see Him as loving and compasionate with the people. The gospels narrate the time when the kids wanted to see Him and the disciples tried to prevent them. Jesus said to allow the kids to come. Now, I dont think the kids would be so attracted to be near Jesus if He would be allways serious or sad. I see Jesus laughing, showing joy.

He loved children, so He must have often smiled and laughed. But He also knew His purpose was to die for mankind, so He had an extremely serious side as well.
For Rachel: You're a sad, hate-filled person who needs to spend some time with a therapist, dear one.

I think of Him as constantly laughing.
Once a thought of Jesus came into my head out of nowhere. I was praying at the time and trying to really empty my mind of all thoughts. All of a sudden I "saw" a picture of Jesus in my mind. He had His head thrown back and was laughing. I realized that he was laughing at the pure joy of being alive and of having conquered death and made a connection between God and all of humankind. It came and went in a flash, but I still remember the joy of His laughter.
Also, you know how in the gospels Jesus is often quoted as saying "Verily, verily I say unto you..." or "Truly, truly I say to you" in more modern English?
He always says that before he makes some serious or meaningful statement. I once thought: if he was always serious, he wouldn't have to do that. So my idea is that he generally had the apostles cracking up with laughter, and to get their attention, He had to break up the laughter with a statement kinda like we would say today "But seriously, now," "Or to be serious for a minute...."
The holiest, most spiritual people I ever knew have also been the the funniest people I have ever known. I think Jesus would be too.

uh...now why would Jesus be depressed? well He was God in the flesh. I'm sure Jesus had his ups and downs just like anyone else but i wouldn't go as far as hI'm being depressed. im sure he got sick, hand headaches and what not. but i also believe that Jesus was in good company. i believe he had a great time with family and friends.

No! Absolutely not. There were times when He was serious, and absolutley intense.
But children are not attraced to "serious" people, if you notice. He is portrayed as a suffering, serious, pale-faced, long-haired hippy type person. Far from reality.
He had semi-curly hair, dark complexion, and he was generally a happy, social and loving person. Children ran up to him. He loved.

it is never recorded in the Gospels that he laughed or smiled. It is recorded, though, that he had a reputation of enjoying a good party, that he rejoiced, that he wept over friends, and that people were attracted to him.

I see him as moody, but having a strong will and drive, but at times he could be a little humorous. Growing up human, he had to appreciate humor.
