Yes. It seems that way to me as well. I have heard it and seen it, that they hold Muhammad in higher light than Allah. Take for example the punishment if you swear at Muhammad is higher than if one swears at Allah. Fact.
Yousif R!! Is a good example of what you say is true.
It looks like he have criticize his own religion by leaving it. Unless he is not telling the truth! If he is an Atheist! then he knows what is the punishment for leaving Islam! it is death. look it up.
Ashado ana la ilaha illa allah wa ashado ana mohammadan rasool Allah. If that is a good example. Then think about this. If they don't hold him higher than God/ Allah! then why include his name in everything, in every prayer etc. If he is only a prophet, then why not treat him as just a human and a messenger!
and What made him leave that religion!
in his defense to his religion, or so called past religion! he have shown who he is!
Muslims will tell you that they only highly revere him. Yet, their action speaks contrary to their words, and that reverence can and is getting much more than that which is to be to God/ Allah. As the poster pointed out. In Egypt as well as many other Muslim countries will swear to the rasual, that means prophet, more than to Allah. They ask assistance from their prophet, and still they claim they don't pray to him!

The prophet is extremely revered.
At times, people will lose balance of things and show more appreciation to a human being than God simply because a human is someone they can relate to and literally come close to worshipping.
There are groups in egypt who also swear by the prophets name as well as Allaahs so that shows their respect has went out of bounds.
We need to love God more than the Prophet. Because the prophet was nothing but His instrument and a reminder to mankind.

we don't worship Prophet Muhammed. that's a false impression with the aid of your seen lack of information. he's our prophet. We fee him. So if somebody comes around and starts making exciting of him, we can arise, and protest. that doesn't propose that we worship him. regardless of the excellent Salman Rushdie controversy, he claimed the classes of Prophet Muhammed are incorrect, while he did no longer also have a sensible argument. If somebody insults our Prophet, we can confront. We purely and easily worship Allah (swt) Likewise, if somebody made exciting of Jesus, reported his teachings are incorrect, and made beside the point cartoons approximately him, does no longer you be purely a splash annoyed !!!

Many of the people who have answered your question either don't know anything about Islam or purposely giving misleading information. The Main thing for a person to become Muslim is to bear witness that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is his MESSENGER. Muhammad is a prophet the same as all prophets, Abraham, moses, Jesus, etc. The only difference is that Muhammad brought us Islam and the Quran, just like moses brought the Torah, and Jesus brought bible. Allah (God in Arabic) is the only One to be worshiped, Muhammad is an example to Muslims on how Allah wants us to act.

I mean this in a good way. They say Allah not God. Maybe it is the Muslims way of distinguishing between the Islam God (Allah) and the Christian/Jewish God Jehovah. You will never hear a Muslims say Allah and Jehovah are the same. Very RARELY will you hear a Muslim simply say "God" without saying Allah. As far as Muhammed goes, you can compare him with the way Christians view Jesus. Muhammed is like the most important person next to Allah. The Muslims hold Muhammed in high regards above all other people that lived.

Muslims often say "I love Islam" but rarely say "I love Allah". Its the ritual and feeling of superiority that they love. As for Muhammad, the Quran says that Muslims should go to Muhammad or Allah with their affairs. I guess either or...both are on the same level.
The Quran also says to obey Allah AND Muhammad, thus, its not enough to just obey Allah...thats not sufficient. Muslism amazingly respond with "oh but its the same thing to obey Muhammad you obey allah". If its the same, then they are the same...thus again....Muhammad is God.

We worship Allah. We really respect Muhammad- peace be upon him, as he is the last prophet, but if we were to worship him, then we wouldnt be muslims.

If you actually LEARNED about the Islamic philosophy, they hold Muhammad as to being the greatest Prophet but they do not worship him as a god per se.

While it might be a fair question to ask of christians, muslims seem to have a clear view of their prophet versus their god, much as jews understood the difference between Moses and Yahweh. Veneration is different than worship.
On the other hand, protestant christians seem to pray to Jesus as a portion of the trinity rather than to god the father (as Jesus told them to do) and catholic christians have added a whole pantheon of demigods (Mary and all the saints) to whom they pray. It would seem that christians are the ones who are confused by the message versus the messanger.

Interesting question.
The prophet can be blasphemed, but blasphemy should be the sole province of god one would think.
