Yes, you can still claim him and receive the $1000 tax credit.

Remember, the credit goes away the year he turns 17.

1. Your child may not be eligible to take exemption for himself if he can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer. If another taxpayer is entitled to claim him as a dependent, he (the child) cannot take an exemption for himself even if the other taxpayer does not actually claim him as a dependent.

2. To claim your son as your dependent make sure that you also meet these two conditions:
*The child (your son) must have lived with you for more than half of the year.
*The child must not have provided more than half of his or her own support for the year.

3. If you don't meet any of the two conditions described in (2), then your son can claim his own exemption.

4. Yes, you can take Child Tax Credit.

Yes, as long as you otherwise qualify - he lives with you for over half the year, and doesn't provide over half of his own support. You'll only get the tax credit if he doesn't turn 17 by the end of the year - this has nothing to do with his working.
