There's this family that tends to cause trouble whenever they enter the store. Several times they have pushed away other customers saying that they were first in line. Other times if their prescription or photos are even 30 seconds late they cause a scene. Order being 30 seconds late I kinda understand but there's no excuse to pushing someone out of line. They are either Indian or Middle eastern. last name is Zand. I was just wondering if this is appropriate for their culture, so that's why they behave the way they do? I know some cultures, including mine, have certain behaviors that are considered appropriate if you have a certain ranking or make a certain amount of money that are considered inappropriate here. I want actual facts no stereotypes.

i know there are some gestures that we consider rude but other cultures consider polite. I know one culture, I think Tibet, sticking out your tongue is a way of saying 'Welcome'. here it's just plain rude. If it was a case like that I could careless

Even if that IS appropriate in their culture (which I seriously doubt it is), they need to realize that they are in a different culture now and their actions are unacceptable. I take it you own or work at this store. The next time they come in with this high and mighty attitude, let them know that they need to wait in line like everyone else and they are not entitled to be served first. If they get upset and cause a scene, oh well. Let them know that they are no longer allowed in the store and have security escort them out. The rest of the regular customers will be glad to see them gone.

EDIT: I came back and noticed the additional details. The next time these people come into the store, ask them to leave. DO NOT SERVE THEM IN ANY WAY! I don't care if they all throw a temper tantrum. Simply ignore them. If they refuse to leave, call the law and get a restraining order. Good luck!

It's not appropriate for any culture. They are simply rude and ignorant. I would not put up with it at all. If they pushed other customers out of the way, then I would tell them to get back to the end of the line and they will be served when its their turn. As for being 30 seconds late, come on, it's only 30seconds. It's ridiculous to cause a scene over that. Next time I would tell them that if they don't like the way the store is run, then they can simply shop elsewhere. You don't need that kind of behaviour in your store.

Rude and disrespectful people come from all cultures. I could not begin to make an assumption about where these people are from but I could definately suggest where they should go!

Your best option is refuse them service if they are rude. Rude is a not a culture.

I think those people are just rude. Every culture has their lower class remember. A lot of people act really ignorant when they are in a different country. When I was in China, a lot of the foreigners were really rude to the locals and tried to act like they were superior even though most of them were just losers who couldn't cut it back home.

Culture is no excuse for acting like morons, no they don't typically act like that. people give "culture" to much leeway, we all should be held to the same ethical standards regardless of what environment we grow up in, Some cultures think it is ok to kill and eat other human beings, but does this mean we should step aside and let them do it, hell no! that being said, for the most part sane and rational middle eastern people are usually very peacefull.

Zand as a last name might mean they are Iranian political refugees. Their rudeness is not due to their culture but that they were once relatives of ruling class up until 1979.
