What makes you a Christian is your belief in God and the Christian plan for salvation, not your actions. Sure we can say how a Christian "should" act. But we can't judge the state of their Christianity.

A lady posted this in her answer to one of my questions today.

A Christian is one who follows the teachings of Jesus. How you act is part of it but because we are all sinners how we act doesn't always look Christian. Peace

A distinction must first be made between "micro" evolution (varying types and kinds of dogs/cats) and "macro" evolution (dogs/cats/frogs/elephants/humans having a common ancestor). No Christian argues micro evolution nor survival of the fittest. We can see that. The problem is w/ macro evolution and its claim to be scientific. For something to be considered science, it must be observable, testable, and reproducible. Macro evo is none of those things. It's a belief system. A religion if you will w/ no physical proof. First it was Lucy. Then Nebraska Man. ALL proven false. No transitional forms anywhere. As far as contrasts and contradictions tween the Bible and the theory of evolution, evolution is typically expressed as a blind, purposeless, undirected process (which it must be if there is no God). Genesis says that God is the creator of the universe, including all of the various life forms, and God's creation is orderly and purposeful. Plants are created at Genesis 1:11 (day 3) even though the sun isn't created until 1:14 (day 4). Birds are created at Genesis 1:20 (day 5), before land animals, which are only created at 1:24, 31 (day 6). Macro evo says Archeopteryx is a bird that evolved from dinosaurs. TRUE science has proven Archeopteryx is just a bird. Nothing else. Hope this helps in your quest.

The statement is exactly right. The only thing I would correct is that it's not just the Christian plan for salvation; it's God's plan for salvation. The only thing I would add is that our actions are a direct indicator of our faith. Usually, people who do more Christian 'acts' have a stronger relationship with Jesus.

Well, we are told you will know and can identify a Christian by their fruits, and we are also given a list of traits and fruits of the spirit that are present in the regenerate; so yes, we have objective means of examining the life of someone to see if they are living in covenant faithfulness to God.

However, that being said, we also know things can be faked, and as humans, we will never be able to see into the heart of others, thus never know for sure and be able to say we know 100% that so and so is a true Christian. The fruits of the spirit and good works are the only evidences we have of someones faithfulness today...what tomorrow holds for them, we never know.

Jesus wants the heart. The rest will follow but you can't go backward into heaven. The heart goes first.

Accepting and believing on the Son of God, is the true way to salvation.

Ohhh, I'm a lady.

The state of a person's Christianity is between them and God. As I said, it's not for us to judge. Everyone has their own opinion of what constitutes a "true Christian," and it differs. If someone claims to be a Christian, we have absolutely no basis to say they're not. The only person who knows for sure, other than the person making the claim, is God.

I think we should strive to be "Christ-like," but most people fail at that. I'm not going to say they're not true Christians because of that.

It makes some sense to me, since we judge by the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

Yet at the same time, Jesus said "You shall know them by their fruit", and "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks", so their words reveal what is truly in their heart.

A Christian might not be very mature, but if a person IS a Christian, they will have a humble attitude, and when confronted with a sin in their life, will seek God to correct it.

We judge the works of the Devil and without condemnation we destroy that from our own works and those around us. Sometimes it is with rebuke and at other times it is with patient direction and example, but we must be able to see and judge which works we are living by and this ability comes from the Spirit of God. It is having this Spirit that shows us we are saved.
John 9:39 ¶ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

No I would not agree. The bible says, about believers in Christ, that you will "know them by their love". The bible also teaches that you can tell a "tree by its fruit" and that the "fruit of the spirit" (meaning a believer in Christ) is love, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, etc. Does that mean this person will never sin, never make mistakes? No it doesn't. It means however, that they love God and desire to live to please Him.

A person who is truly born again in Jesus Christ will have a change in their behavior. If a person says they are a Christian, but leads a life of sin, then that is an impossible contradiction.
