My daughter uses coconut oil for her hair and elbows all the time. She is an oil freak. She swears by it. It eliminates the rough, ashy patches and really lubricates her scalp. Plus it smells good. And it feels nice on the skin. She has been using it for over a year and her hair is so rich, thick and strong. And her skin is no longer ashy or rough. So go ahead and give it a try. Remember to only use the oil in your hair like every other day. But if you tend to wash your hair everyday then use it as often as you like. My daughter tends to wash her hair about every 2-3 days. Oil build up can make hair messy and dirty. But if you wash properly and oil properly then you results will be noticed.

I think that coconut oil is great for the skin and hair. Just make sure that you are getting the good stuff. A lot of manufacturers use fillers and preservatives and believe me you don't want that stuff on your body or anywhere near your hair. They sell some really good products that are pure coconut oil. I know The Body Shop has a great product called Miracle Oil, that is based on a recipe that Hawaiian women use for their skin and hair. I have used coconut body butter for my skin and my sons hair. It makes his hair really soft and keeps my skin form getting dry. But again, make sure that you are getting the good stuff. Cocoa butter based body butter is the best, with no petroleum.
