I believe if anyone wants to give their money to a place, mission, school, educational grant/scholarship, charity, etc. that they find worthwhile, should be applauded. I believe that most, not all Tele-evangilists prey on innocent people. Missions? I don't know how much of the money donated is actually going to the poor but how can anyone really know? If people are using their money to do good, then how can it be wrong? Personally, I believe charity should begin here in our own country, but that's personal. I would never fault anyone for giving!

I do a small amount of ministry here with the Philippinos. what these people need more than a missionary is some food and clothing. Then let's see to their spiritual needs.
I do not solicit funds so what I do is limited by what I have to give but that's OK.
For People that truly care about where and how their money is used I can suggest christforasia.com not a church just people feeding people. Also the Cebu Missionary Foundation needs help and does a good work here. All funds go to the people. Check it out for yourselves.

...We support many missionaries through our church. Most of them are personal friends of high integrity whom God called to missions - several gave up successful careers to spread the Gospel throughout the world (to the UN, to the Middle East, to Mexico, Africa, etc.) We know they are trustworthy with our money.
...I wouldn't give a red cent to most televangelists, because they proclaim false Gospels and teach false doctrines. These include name-it/claim-it crowd, and gospels that claim that everyone should have full health, wealth, and/or political freedom in this life. All one must do is read Hebrews 11 and 2 Corinthians 12 to see that perfect health, wealth, and political freedom are not promised to believers, and this position is consistent throughout the Scriptures, when one studies it out.
...Giving to missions, foreign and domesticate, is a way to bless others and be blessed too - You can store up for eternity, where moth and rust cannot destroy and thieves cannot break in and steal.

Anyone who allows themselves to be talked out of their money by a tele-evangelist deserves not to have the money. Those people are nothing more than sharks feeding off of gullible, weak minded people.

Our small church does. we are small, but we try to "tithe"on the "tithes" we try to give about 10% of our tiths to missions, we susport a soup kitchen in mexico that feeds orphens, and family missionary that consists of a man his wife and their two very small boys, they work mostily in Africa. In both cases no one's ego is enlarged but the word of the Lord is spread.

Yes I think it's great to do so. I would research it however and pick a missionary from your local church or one that your pastor recommends. We have missionaries within our own church so it's pretty easy to give that way
