Actually, this is the very reason I don't accept email anymore. My seven year old
son saw an email that came to me that explained in horrible detail how my body could be cut into tiny pieces in the bathtub,
and it goes on to get way worse than just
that....my son wouldn't even sleep except
next to me for over a month after that.
Anyway, the reason for the hate mail was that I said that the Bible does not state anywhere in it that this Earth is only about
6000 years old, and that in fact, it describes
an entire Earth age that was before this one.
I stated that there is no controversy between true Science and the true Word of God. It really peeved someone off, and they
sent me that horrible email.
They were arrested for terrorizing threats.
That was about a year ago.

I have actually never received hate mail from users on Yahoo Answers or otherwise. I actually get a lot of positive messages from other users which I enjoy much more than I think I would hate mail.
I did get this message last week and wasn't exactly sure how to take it:
"Subject: you are a courageous woman
Message: I was looking over profiles for people that answered the question about richard dawkins
and you had a 360 so I took a look.
hense the statement, you have courage
I wish you well"
I'm not sure if the sender meant that I am courageous for being an atheist or that I am courageous for speaking out about my (lack of) belief. Either way, I took it as a compliment and thanked him for it.
I also received a message on Yahoo! 360 from some sort of "Troll Patrol" telling me that if I did not change my avatar (I quote) "We will be forced to report you." They then had my account deleted...
What did I do to deserve it? I guess my risque avatar offended a few fundies... (It was different than the one I have now.)

I have only recieved one in the past year. Not too bad. But that is why I try to look at their page prior to answering their questions just to see how they personally answered others. If they seem too gun ho about defending their beliefs then I let them alone. I have noticed though that more of the hate mail and bashing do come from the devout "Christians" or sheeple as I like to refer to them. They will follow more of what their organized religion says to do and to believe than their own holy books and so I make sure I avoid them as well. It's easier than deleting e-mail after email. And whoever wrote that messege to you is just one of those that are just lost in their journey of life and are looking for confirmation on how they percieve it. Sorry that you had to recieve something like that.

I actually haven't recieved too much hatemail. The most negative letter I got was from someone who asked a question about Indigo Children and I replied with my not-too-humble opinion that I personally think the Indigo thing is a bunch of bull and is a cover-up excuse for parents not get their children tested for autism and other behavioral and psychiatric disorders. She didn't take it very well and long story short called me a meany poopoo head. But that was about it.

To tell the truth, I haven't received that much hate mail. Maybe five or six over the last year and a half? Anyway, I did nothing to deserve any of them. They were just people who didn't like one of my answers, or didn't like my political leanings or my faith.
They're so far back in my email that I don't feel like digging for them.
And I'd LOVE to know who wrote that to you! Maybe they should take off the part where they say something like that in Jesus's name...I don't think Jesus would appreciate His name being used like that.

I didn't 'save' any of my hate emails, but I answered a question re: where I thought Pres. Bush would spend eternity, and I answered "HELL. Hands Down."
I received more emails than I can count from fellow Christians who said I was blasphemous, not a true Christian, was hell bound myself, and what an idiot I am for not recognizing that Bush is our President through Divine Intervention/Inspiration from God. They also included the "you're trying to lead people astray" type accusations and several people said "You're not even who you say you are!!!" LOL - then who the heck am I?

So far I haven't upset anyone enough to receive hate mail. Well, I get emails that are in response to things I have posted, but they usually aren't to argue or filled with hate.

Almost a year ago, a user began stalking Debra M and I. He accused me of being the anti-Christ, and he reprimanded her for associating with the likes of me.
Three days before Halloween, I received mail from him telling me that he was going to give me a real Halloween horror. He would cut my throat with a 12-inch butcher knife and bathe in my blood. Needless to say, that threat was reported to Yahoo!
EDIT: What did I do to deserve it? He had a habit of posting inflammatory questions about me. Rather than ignore him or report him, I answered his questions. I think he was unnerved by my audacity.

Oh, I have dozens. All from the same person. I've posted them before, but they never get old.
"RACHEL it is clear to everyone now that I have exposed you that you are not a true Christian and you are just interested in leading GOD'S servants astray but I still believe that there is yet hope for you if you repent!!!! You are a very depraved individual and you should not be spewing your vileness all over R&S in the name of Christ who you serve is not christ it is the anti-christ and i pray that the VEIL will be removed from your eyes and you will see GOD'S truth or you will suffer eternal damnation."

I was called a a.. h..., I responded to a question concerning cults, i researched the answer, it was the truth and i was reported for abuse, I responded to the abuse complaint that i was thankful for it because who ever reported it knew it was the truth and wanted to avoid others to look it up and it would of exposed them for what they are.
