I'm 24 years old and STILL have not read the bible. Honestly, I hate to read anything longer than a magazine article, so the thought of reading the entire Bible is really intimidating and overwhelming. Are there any websites out there that will send me a few bible verses a day until I've "read" the bible in its entirety? I have a few Study Bibles, but I just can't get into them. My husband bought me "a study guide to read the Bible in 1 year", but the thought of it taking a whole year discourages me.

I disagree with the answers that suggest that you read only a single book of the bible. It is very important that you read the entire thing.
First, you need to convince yourself that it is *really important* to read the bible. If you approach it with the attitude: "I've always meant to read the bible. Maybe I'll start today." then you will never finish it. It's like dieting - there is no "easy" way out, you have to exercise more and/or intake fewer calories, and you have to *keep* doing that for months or years. Likewise, you *have* to believe that reading the bible is as important as anything else you do in your life, or you will not accomplish this task. And make no mistake, it *is* a task. (I have read the bible though at least 5 times (I lost count), so I *know* that it's a task.)
Once you have achieved the proper motivation, you should set time aside *every day*, rain or shine, regardless of *any* other obligations. Only things which threaten life, home or job should come between you and your bible reading. And if something *does* come between you and your bible reading, you should make *every effort* to complete your reading assignment for the day at a later time *that same day*. Again, you have to consider your reading of the bible to be *this important*. If you set aside 1 hour a day, and read very slowly and carefully, you will be able to finish an "abridged" bible in 3 months time. A "complete" bible may take two additional weeks, and a good, scholarly study bible may take 6 months, if you take the time to read all the study notes.
Trust me, even the really boring sections of the bible, if read slowly and carefully for only 1 hour a day, can be overcome. It *is* a chore. But when you are finished, you will be glad you did it, just as any worthwhile project. I always advise people to read the bible *at least* twice. The second time, you will make several connections that you missed the first time, particularly between the Old and New Testaments. Also, it is useful to read a different version the 2nd time around.
Conclusion: you don't need someone to e-mail you verses. What you need is a firm obligation to read the entire bible. Once you have obtained this, you *will* succeed in this task.

Some schedule 10 to 15 minutes daily to read the Bible. By doing so, they have been able to finish the entire Bible in a year or two! Even if that seems beyond your reach, make it your goal to read a portion of the Bible every day.

Hope this helps!

There was a time when I regarded the reading/studying of scriptures as overwhelming and intimidating, however as I began to read and prayed for understanding a hunger for the Word emerged.
I would suggest to you that you read one chapter a day starting at the beginning and I would also recommend this website to you ....www.theseason.org where there is a full chapter by chapter bible study with commentary from Genesis to Revelation.

Try ArcaMax. I get Bible verses from them.
As far as reading the entire Bible, perhaps try reading an easier version. I'm reading The Message from Genesis to Revelation, and I've found it really easy to get through. It isn't the best version for study (I'm not sure if it was translated correctly, I'm still comparing it to other versions), but it's VERY easy to read. I even managed to get through most of the "begats" with no trouble, lol!

Reading it in small parts will only enable you to take it out of context. Read the darn thing front to back and you may just become an Atheist. Chapter 1.3: God punishes for learning. Chapters 1.5-1.9: God kills nearly every living mammal on the planet... Later god causes 10 deadly plagues. A woman gets killed for looking back at Sodom. A Man gets seduced by his two daughters. It's quite interesting... A verse at a time and you will have missed all of this!!! Those email verses only contain pretty things like John 3:16 - For god so loved the world... blah blah blah...
So you need to decide what you want. Is it a daily affirmation or do you really want to know the true bible?

read a children's bible, will be shorter and easier.
Work on your attention span (stop watching television would help, give your television set away). Getting individual bible verses out of context would make as little sense than reading any other book one sentence a day. Will take you several years that way anyway.

there's a team in yahoo referred to as a short concept from Gods be conscious...that's purely one pastor that sends you a splash verse time-honored and then explains what it ability.additionally David Jeremiah from Turning component does that yet its a splash longer than a verse.

I can sympathise with your dilemma.
Don't aim at reading the entire Bible. Rather, just start in - say - the gospel of Matthew, read a chapter, then put it down. Tomorrow pick up and read one chapter. The next day, read just one chapter.
Don't aim at the Bible, just one chapter.
Or, you could listen to the Bible narrated on tape or CD.
God bless your efforts :-)

HAHAHAHA I HOPE you're a troll.
If you've never read the Bible, how can you follow it? If you are finally getting around to examining your religion just now, I would recommend doing so objectively. Christianity is only ONE of thousands of religions, and there is no evidence of validity.
Good luck to you on your journey.(Unless you just want to accept things as fact just because other people tell you it's true.)
If you want mindless drivel sent to you each day, there are a few sources where this can be accomplished.
