Does anyone else feel that people have just lost respect for themselves and others?People don't shower daily, so often when I am in an elevator or bus, some people just stink and you can tell they have not showered in days!!! "GROSS! People don't care how they dress, poor manners! No wonder our youth have lost respect, there are so many adults that don't set a good example! I'm not perfect, but I do have a one shower a day rule in my home and clean clothes that look respectable must be worn. My kids are not allowed to walk the streets with gangster hats and pants hanging down to their knees! I often just shake my head when I am walking down the streets, what is wrong with people!!!

OMG, I totally agree! When I read what you said about people who don't shower, it reminded me of an incident I had at KFC once. This really over-weight couple walked in (I'm not bashing over-weight people, I'm just saying they were over-weight) who literally must've weighed 300 lbs. each. No lie. My boyfriend and I were simply enjoying our lunch and I was almost done.... until their stench drifted towards our table. It was DISGUSTING! Needless to say, I lost my appetite after that. It just really bothered me that these people didn't care enough about themselves to get healthier or to at least bathe! I wanted to say something to them, but I thought better of it. Even though I think that sort of thing is just horribly rude. My boyfriend said they may not have had the means to take a shower, but I told him that if they didn't then they shouldn't have been eating out.
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it. No matter how many people don't care about their image or their personal hygiene, we'll never be able to get the message through that they look ridiculous.

My kids are frustrated with me...I make them wear respectable clothing, beige dress pants and dress shirts, clean jeans ( that fit properly)...they`re not running around looking like hoodlums. I told them, this is the first day of school, NO MOHAWK HAIR CUTS!! Parents are giving in at such an early age today, I was at the school this morning and a second grader came to school with a pink mohawk!!I know people are not so " anal" noadays, but it just makes a little boy look so tough and mean. This little boy took his picture like that last year, ( school picture), soo many parents were appalled, I was.. I couldn`t believe a parent would WILLINGLY do this to their child.

It all comes from the attitude forced onto everyone in the 80's that everyone should be able to do and look as they want so they could "express" themselves. This is what we get so many years later. Most of what I see in the way people dress I wouldn't wear to take out the garbage. Manners are so deplorable it's often difficult to be around large groups of people. Good for you for setting the bar higher in your home.

Yes. They have no standards. There are a few people who remain untouched by this, and I thank my lucky stars when I meet them, but they are rare. In Britain, men even wear shorts that look like boxer shorts in public when the weather is good, and it looks gross.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I hate it when I'm just starting off to work in the morning, freshly showered, and have to sit in a smelly bus and on a smelly seat.

I tend to agree with you.
Maybe its just a sign of the times we live in. I try to live my life by treating everyone as I would want them to treat me - not easy at times - and by just being positive .

I agree with you! Like I said it's showing up more and more in our society that you can ALMOST call it normal. Seriously this is embarrassing on our countries behalf.
