A progressive flat tax based on income is what's fair? Why? Because the more money you make the more you use in the way of government services and benefits. Ahhhhh (chuckle)....I hear conservative heads exploding already. No, but really, it's true. I have many examples, but 'll give you just a few big ones for now: Defense - Which is 20% of the national budget BTW. Who benefits more from national defense? The rich. Why? Because they have more to lose should the country fall to invaders. The rich own far more in the way of real estate, private business, securities, etc, than the middle class and poor. Why shouldn't they invest more to protect what they own. It's like the guy who owns a big house, he needs a big insurance policy to protect it, right? Then he needs to pay! Public Education - Here again the rich benefit more because without the talent pool provided by the public education system, they would not be able to build businesses as prosperous. Yes, the rich leverage everyone elses talent to build their empires. The rich also have a higher percentage of their children in public universities. Massive Bailouts - Did the middle class get a government bail out in 2008? No, but the rich did. Corporate Welfare. Counting tax breaks and expenditures, corporations and the rich hog over $400 billion a year, compare that to the $116 billion spent on programs for the poor. The rich need to pay up! Go 99%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

OK - my husband is in The Netherlands and this is what I use -
http://www.callcentric.com/?aid=9883
They have an unlimited plan for international calls of $29.95 a month - and then you can get a local number - like I have a number that is out of Eindhoven so when my husband calls me he is calling a local number - then that call is then forwarded to either my home phone or my cell phone depending on the hours.
They have many plans here - yes it is voip - but when I am talking to my husband the quality is VERY good - I have never had an issue with it either!
Right now my neighborhood's internet is down as Comcast is working on the lines and I called my number jus tto see and it still went through to my cell phone.....pretty darned cool...
Their customer service rocks too by the way - have had quite a few questions and they got it all answered!

Unlimited Global calls? No. Unlimited US calls, yes; But not world wide.
(When calling other countries, your call must travel over the phone systems in those countries. Some countries charge a large amount for connecting calls, and AT&T passes those charges onto you. (that is one of the main reasons why price of calling one country can be much larger than another nearby country.) Because these charges vary so much a total unlimited global plan would have to be very expensive to cover the more costly countries and would therefore not sell very well. The income from the few subscribers would probably not cover the overhead of having the plan available.)
