Nah, I think this one is better:
If you proved that God exists some atheists would believe,
however if you disproved it many believers would still believe.

No, not fair at all.
Most atheists at YA - in previous questions at least - have indicated that no proof would be sufficient for them. They would challenge any type of audio/visual manifestation of God as a trick or hoax; and any "miracle" (ie, reversal of natural law) would be explained to their satisfaction by the scientific community.
On the other hand - if you could prove conclusively that God DID NOT exist - which BTW is a hypothetical of such impossibility it really doesn't even quality as a hypothetical - I believe that most believers would accept that.

If you 'proved' it, then the idea that god exists will have become a 'fact'... knowledge. So, in those circumstances, 'belief'... the ILLUSION of knowledge... would be redundant and unnecessary. Atheists would merely acknowledge the 'fact' of god's existence.
You're probably right about the 'believers', though... except that is essentially impossible to prove that something DOES NOT exist.
reviewing answers... I am absolutely appalled at the absense of depth and subtlety in thinking.

God needs to be in caps thanks. You cant prove God exists to a atheists. They usually don't except signs, Faith, love, truth as Prof. Yet some times the word of God also know as the bible makes it impossible for them to keep the argument going that he doesn't exists. You can not disprove God to a real believer because we have felt Gods grace first hand. So your question in its self can not be answered!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No not entirely fair.
People need a great show to believe in God. Thats why miracles were performed.
In the old Testament there is a story about a rich man--in torments after death---speaking with Lazarus in paradise.
The rich man wants Lazarus to come back from the dead and warn his children.
Lazarus replies "If your children will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not listen to me though I be returned from the dead."
Noah preached 120 years under the inspiration of God Himself, and still no one wanted to enter the ark.
Do you feel the rain now?

Proof is in the eye of the beholder...most atheists believe in evolution yet there is no "proof" of that theory...yet if you disproved it they would still believe it even with evidence of God. People's beliefs define who they are and until they are willing to change that charectoristic about themselves they will stauchly remain loyal to their own made up minds...it goes both ways. Since my belief that there are no gods is based on the absence of evidence for any gods, if I were to see proof that one or more exist I would believe because it would be intellectually dishonest to do otherwise.
Many theists, on the other hand, would probably not change their beliefs because they're not based on facts.

No, I don't think you could change such basic beliefs either way. Just seeing the arguments that go on here points up the pointlessness of it all. Both sides would claim that it's a trick, or wait for the commercial. That's people.
As the welsh say - there's none so strange as folk. (rough English translation).

Fair enough. But I think that proof of a negative would be hard to come across. More likely proof that points that there is no God would be more appropriate.. Most of us can see that such logic is beyond their acceptance.
