I doubt it. Joe Gibbs likes drivers who can actually win races.

Junior was very interested in Gibbs but he had stated that he would like to bring Budweiser with him and Joe Gibbs had said that he wouldn't accept them as a sponsor. Also with the behind the scenes discussion of Toyota, Jr. who had made the comment that he would stay with Chevy wouldn't have gone. He would up at the logical place. It had to be either Hendrick or Childress.

I doubt it, but the only way to know would be to ask him. And I doubt he'd tell you the truth. I don't think Gibbs was a viable option for him, considering the downfall of that 3rd car (#18 team) He didn't want to jump into a losing ride, that hasn't been able to produce jack-**** since Bobby left... It makes more sense to jump into that Hendrick ride doesn't it? I don't think Yota made the diff.
JGR will win w/ Chevy, or Yota.. It's the engineering @ the big time shop that will give Yota the big boost.

I heard that it was a sponsorship issue. I think Gibbs would have really liked to have Junior in his organization. Say what you will about his driving abilities, but he is very popular. I don't understand why people think he is not a good driver. He had a top 5 at California, has had some bad luck, and has to live beneath his dead father's shadow.
Keep racin' Junior!

He did talk to Gibbs but it did not work out. One reason is because at the time they thought Jr was going to take Budweiser with him as a sponsor. Even though that is not going to happen. If Jr would have went to Gibbs he would not have been able to keep Bud as a sponor because with Gibbs religious beliefs, he will not allow a beer company as a sponsor. Even though he supports the bud pole award. But yes, he did talk with Gibbs.

I don't know the exact details but he did say he was set on Chevy. I think all alone he wanted to be at Hendrick's organization. There was closer ties between the Hendricks and the Earnhardts than most people realized.

I'd rather drive a Toyota for Gibbs than a Cadillac for Hendrick, he's a sleazeball.

I think it was more of a Budweiser problem,
But now it will be interesting if Stewart stays and drives a Toyota. Since he only has 1 more year in his contract.

Dale can't win races at DEI while Truex is winning. Why would anyone think he could win at Gibbs? We know it's not the equipment, it's driver errror.

I lot of rumors occur during silly season. Unless you have true inside information, your not going to know what is truth and what is fiction.
