Religion used to be a good way to control the people at some point (do this way or else you end up in hell). Don't question. Don't ask. Don't research. See that lightning? - it's some god you angered, now behave. As people began to think they realized that it's all a lie, THE biggest lie in the history of humanity. The problem is that most deeply religious people will go at any length to blame the atheists for everything that goes against their beliefs. The atheists are doing this, the atheists are doing that, the atheists are trying to corrupt us...

Then you are in good company because I as a Christian don't understand why some Atheist are so adamant about trying to convince Christians that Christ doesn't exist. It is a two way street. Oh yeah and the "book of fairy tales" thing is really worn out now. As for pushing anyone into believing something no one can push me into believing anything I don't want to can they do so to you? If not then you really don't have anything to worry about do you?

Why do atheists ridicule our beliefs?- I try to live my life as an example of Christ-never have tried to fight or convert anyone. Don't you think I get it! When the Bible is called the "big book of fairy tales and lies" I know you don't want to hear about Jesus. At the same time, insulting Christians is not going to make them deny their faith. I do not say this to sound hateful- we just have different views.

Well, I would have to disagree with you. How does an atheist know what it feels like to a Christian to "convert" someone?

And for the record, there is a satisfaction in seeing true enlightenment come alive in someone.

The same satisfaction a teachers experiences in school, when a student finally understands, when the "light turns on".

as far as the pushing part, everyone is guilty of that, in many different areas.

Because its true. What other reason is there?

When you feel the joy of the Gospel, when you have been cleansed by the Atonement of Jesus Christ, there is no greater joy or happiness. And like all true joy, you can't keep it to yourself. The thought of anyone being miserable in their veiled state is repulsive. You will want to share the love of God with others.

I know that God lives. Id know that even if every book of scripture in the world was destroyed. Because I didnt learn it from a book. I learned it from the Spirit. And when you receive a testimony from the Holy Ghost you dont have to rely on the words of others, although they may be profitable and enlightening to you. You can rely on God and God alone.

I'm not a Christian and yes they have tried to convert me, too, but I don't have a problem with it because I believe strongly in my own faith. I don't think atheists should have a problem either because if they are sure there is no God then so what if a few people try to tell them there is?

I'm getting quite bored of this bashing of anyone who believes in a God.

Grow up, people!

Hello Médard Le Métèque.. :)

A lot of Christians used to be Atheist.. :)

I for one am excited how the Lord changed my life for the "Better and I share with those that I was set free from drugs" etc.. :)

We cannot convert anyone..we can only share and tell you the Good News of Jesus..and the conversion and acceptance is totally up to you..

No our quality of life does not change at all..but our hearts do jump for joy..because we know the "Love and Joy" that awaits those, that ask Jesus to be the Lord of their life.. :)

See for someone that just became a believer in Christ..is like going to a baseball game and seeing Barry Bonds hit the home-run that broke Hank Arron's record..and to top it all off, catch the ball.. :)

Would you keep it to yourself, or would you share with others how it feels to catch that ball.. :)

I say the above in ~Love~

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

First off, you can never convert a person to believe..God quickens peoples heart to receive the gospel..There on the Y&A may be one or two God has called to Him and we are to go and preach the good news to them..You just happen to be there when it happens..
To convert someone is to control thier minds, that is not Gods way of doing things, you either come with a whole heart for the Lord or you don't..

Why do atheist constantly come to a religion forum or other Bible chat/blog/posting boards where people of various faith systems are and harass? I know no Christians that are trying to "fight" atheists....we mostly stand our ground and defend ourselves when attacked by people who should be indifferent to matters of faith or religion...yet here you are...bashing, attacking and antagonizing...wonder just who is pulling your strings to give you so much bitterness, hatred and arrogance...I mean, if you don't believe and aren't gonna believe and have all the answers then why don't you run off and go play elsewhere? Ever ask yourself what draws you here to ask such inane, pointless questions such as the one you just asked...pointless cuz believers don't bother atheists..."the forcing religion down throats thing..." its a crock. Couldn't push an atheist into believing anything...and believers know that...I just wish people would get that. Love in Christ, ~J~

Christians, or religious people of all denominations somehow take comfort from being part of a group. I suppose somehow being around other people who believe reinforces their own beliefs as well. Why else do religious people have church groups and other stuff like that?

Religion is based on faith and faith is always strengthened if there are other people around to validate it. There is no way God can ever be proved through the evidence of our senses- so the best way God can be "proven" is perhaps if you have a large enough group of people who believe in Him. Then if God is someday proven not to exist, you're not the only idiot,
