Hello, I know it's asking a lot but I'd like a relatively low-budget knife that can fulfil a variety of tasks and is quite well built. I will use it primarily for general DIY and mnior outdoors tasks, and I have my eye on this:

Are these knives good for what I have in mind, what good alternatives are there? Are these knives better or worse than the 'Leatherman' styles? My budget is £20.

Thanks!

Victorinox Swiss made knives are a great value and will serve you needs well. Victorinox knives are very popular here in the United States and I personally like the Model SAK8. They are quality made high grade stainless steel and have a lifetime warranty against defects and workmanship. For what you have use of it for, I don't see how you could go wrong. Excellent knife, excellent price...........

I do not like leatherman type tools because 99% of the time all I need is my knife and if I have to put down what I am working on to dig out a blade from a pair of plyers and dig through screw drivers, saws, and the other tools on the leatherman just to get a blade is worthless to me. A one-handed open pocket knife with a pocket clip works best for me. I chose a Smith & Wesson SWAT pocket knife. Inexpensive, durable, sharp. Good luck

I have no idea how much 20 euros is, but I bought a gerber multitool for about $40 U.S. I've had it for about 5 or 6 years now, and it has been great. I use the pliers, screwdrivers, and knife all the time. It also has wire cutters, scissors, and can and bottle opener. It is very handy. Most times when I need a tool, I don't have to drag out my tool box because I have what I need on my belt. And I don't have to carry a pocket knife, because it has one of those too.

A Leatherman brand multi-tool will fill your needs well. They come with a variety of tools inside that can cut, turn, pry, or squeeze many different objects. They are also completely made of metal. A regular folding pocket knife is pretty limited in that it can cut and scrape as the metal is too brittle to pry with or use as a screwdriver.

Hi deamon594, I'm Ken with The Home Depot and work in the tool department. If your main work is on computers and other electronics, you should have several tools. You can get small screw drivers and some small sockets and driver bits in the tool department. However for some tools that are made for working on electronics, you can order them on line or go to a electronic shop. They will have the size and some kits that have what you need.

i was 11 when i got my first pocket knife. it was a Swiss army knife. i am now 14, and i use it for everything. it has a saw blade, knife, screw driver, just to name a few. you'll really like it. just make sure you don't get a cheap knock off and you'll be fine.
