My husband and I are having our first but I just got an ultrasound and I found out that I'm pregnant with twins! What is it like? Is it harder than just having one? What if they are identical - how will I tell them apart when they are born? How will I look after two of them???
Help! I'm really worried!

I haven't had twins myself but a friend of mine has twin girls and she started out trying to breastfeed both and remembering which one had been fed and changed etc took its toll after 3mths. So she turned her white fridge into a whiteboard (buy white board markers) and had two columns; one for each girl. She would write down what time each fed, for how long, how much they drank, when they were changed etc...and these few minutes saved her hours!! And she had little braided bracelets for the girls tied onto their wrists. One had pink with her name and the other had lilac with her name and that way you can never get confused and it doesn't look out of place (and other people don't realise you can't always tell the difference in the middle of the night!). She also had them sleeping in the same cot (in their own room though) for the first few months because she found they were much more settled when they were together, then after 3mths she started separating them and it went fine.

Good luck and congrats on the twins!! I envy you so much, I've always wanted twins and since no-one in my family has had them in 3 generations, I was kinda hoping I would be the one...., but I have 2 beautiful children nonetheless!

First of all congrats!! Not very many people get to experience having twins. I have not been through this myself but I do know plenty of people who have. It somewhat different during pregnancy because obviously you are carrying two. You are probably going to have to go on bedrest before you would like to. Most of the time twins are born earlier then a single baby would be. Average time for twins is around 35 weeks instead of 40 for single pregnancies. It is harder when they are born but depending on the babies you shouldnt have too big of an issue. Sleeping might be difficult at first for you but you need to make sure you have plenty of help. You are their mother, you can tell them apart. You will just know based on personality which is which. Dont be worried, take it as it goes. Once again congrats on twins!

WOW TWINS! Congrats. You must be excited, anxious and scared all at the time. Twins usually come earlier than 40 wks. You'll be tired, and feel like a cow! lol But in the end, it will all be worth it. Expect plenty of stretch marks...comes with the job. Best of luck.....try and take this time to relax and be pampered. When the babies arrive things will be hectic. Don't worry yourself about the lil' things. You've been blessed. Things will naturally fall into place. I'm sure you'll make a terrific mother. Blessings.

I'm a twin.
My mom says that whenever one of us needed attention, the other one didnt, so it's not like she was pulling her hair out dealing with us. I've also heard that from other twins. Maybe it's an inherent thing? Dont know.
As far as taking care of them, you just need 2 of everything, so it's not necessarily "harder", you just need to do evrything twice.

To tell them apart, one of them will probably have some type of distinguishing mark somewhere. Dont worry, you wont get them mixed up.

Also, speaking on behalf of twins, please dont dress them alike once they start school. When they're infants/toddlers, thats fine, but once they get older, there's a whole stigma that develops. You need to let them be individuals, dont always treat them as a unit otherwise they never learn independence until it's too late.

Good luck.

Congrates on your twins!!

Depending on your twins if they are identical twins or non identical twins.

Identical twins look alike and is rarer seen as compared to non identical twins. Non identical twins happened when sperms fertilzed 2 ovual instead of 1. Identical twins happened when a fertlized ovual splited itself into 2 identical masses instead of normally 1.

Generally, identical twins are harder to differentiate upon the 1st glance but as long passes, the difference in personlities as well as likings will allow you to see them as individual person instead of a pair.

I've never had twins so i don't know but as for the telling them apart at first it might me a little difficult as you will be tired and my at times get a little confused until you have had chance to get to know them both and get used to their personalities so why not buy them both expandable i.d bracelets then you will always be able to check which is which if your in any doubt.

I'm gonna have twins too I'm already 34 weeks pregnant, how far pregnant are you? You have to get used to back pains and the pressure on your legs on your last trimester of pregnancy. And if your feet start swelling eat bananas or anything with high potassium.
