Right, now, first of all, just let me say, I'm not a big body-mod person. I don't dislike them, but I'm a huge wimp and most of them seem terribly inconvenient to me. I have a small outline tattoo near my hip and two piercings in each ear lobe, but that's it. I considered getting my eyebrow pierced for awhile, but at the time, in the end, decided it probably wouldn't suit me. Other piercing options were subsequently ruled out for various reasons. One thing I have rather wanted done for a couple of years, though, is a wrist piercing, so I've done a little reading up on that. However, opinion seems to be split pretty evenly over whether or not it will hurt (remember, huge wimp!), and how dangerous it is, being a surface piercing. Does anyone have two cents to chip in? I'm by no means dead-set on it, but I am considering it and I want to find out everything I can, since I don't have a lot of experience with this.

I think surface piercings are beautiful if taken care of properly :)
They hurt just as much as any other piercing. I think tatoos hurt more. My friend Ryan is the best body modification artist that I know and have ever heard/read about, he's in the top ten in the whole world. If you live in the New England area, I highly suggest you go to him. He also does microdermals, which are the new alternative to surface piercing. The only thing I don't like about surface piercings is catching it on your clothes... and the possibilty of your body rejecting it, which I have unfortunately come to learn is not painful at all. I hope I helped!

you'd have to make sure you got it done by an experienced professional - make sure they've done the particular piercing at least a few times before, and with proof of healed and healthy piercings

as with most surface piercings, there is a tendency to reject - (mostly due to bad piercing, but also as the skin may reject them as alien) - they're not generally permanent piercings.

good luck!
