i dont have a checking account....can i still cash it at the bank?? my friends said that most checks coming from insurance companys are not cashed the same day...

Well, (1) the easiest way is to simply deposit it to your account at your bank. But if you don't have a bank, (2) the 2nd easiest way is to cash it at the bank it's drawn on. (3) If there are none around you, you can try calling banks to see if they will cash it for you, and if that fails, (4) you might have to go to a check cashing agency, but you will have to pay a fee. Call first and find out how much. (5) Of course, if you have a friend or relative that has a checking account, THEY could deposit it to THEIR account! All you have to do is sign the back, and then they will have to sign it too.

There are FIVE WAYS you can cash the check right there! :D (And I'm sure I missed some... :)

Without a bank account of some kind, you'll likely have to go to one of those check cashing places and pay the fee.
