whats a site that has cool furniture that is cheap (money wise) and isnt ikea?

what fabrics hold up well with 2 clawing kitties?

and what would be good for more storage in the kitchen???

Check out your local furniture stores, watch for sales or delayed payment options. Be wary of furniture stores that offer you an entire living room for one low price. The furniture is junk. There are no fabrics that hold up to cats. Retrain your cats to use scratching pads and keep their nails trimmed. There are also fabric protectors available at the pet stores. We have two cats and they have never touched our furniture. In the kitchen, double up your cabinet space by adding the space savers available at places like Linens n Things. There are plenty of options.

'Cheap' places that are not IKEA:
- Craigslist.org
- Overstock.com (they have 2.95 shipping for your entire order - including furniture!)
- CB2.com (A new destination from Crate and Barrel for modern furniture) - From what I saw their furniture seemed to be pretty cheap

But I wouldn't completely knock IKEA. Sure a lot of the furniture is cheap but its great starter furniture. We purchased a lot of IKEA furniture initially and over time will rotate it out with nicer furniture. Your choice though.

This site has new stuff on sale for clearance prices:

Here are some things that would work well for kitchen storage:

As for the cats, I had mine declawed, but I think that they would be less tempted to claw up leather furniture than fabric:

and try to train them to use a scratching post.

1. Either get their front paws declawed or covered with those nail tips. Cat scratching furniture is bad on any material.
