My dentist's rates are cheaper if you don't have insurance...this seems unfair since I have to pay 50% with my insurance.

This is a common practice. But you could say that he is charging less to people who do not have insurance. Tell him that it is like you are half insured so he should charge you less than others insured.

No, this is called insurance fraud. Call your insurance company and let them know, get a copy of your bill from the dentist, and then try to get a list of prices for people who don't have insurance. Submit all of this to your insurance company, and have them investigate. If your dentist keeps calling you, inform them that you think there is insurance fraud at their office, and that you will not pay your bill until your insurance company has thoroughly investigated. If all else fails, get a lawyer and threaten to sue your dentist.

i had an orthodontist negotiate a price with me for getting all my wisdom teeth taken out so i guess so. but you're still getting off cheaper than ppl without. if the rates are cheaper than your 50% than opt to not use your insurance otherwise let it be.
