My two male cats are not desexed.
The black one keeps pining down the ginger one and tries to mate with him (pining him down in one go for about 40 minutes).
Is the black one trying to show that he is the dominate male cat or is he confused with the ginger cats scent and thinks he is a she?
I have tried to seperate them, but they stay stuck or the black one pins down the ginger one again.
Sometimes it seems the ginger one doesn't mind it.
They are both definate males.

It's a dominance thing.... getting them neutered will help stop this behavior. Good luck.

It is an act of dominance, but it is also connected with the fact that the poor cat is desperate to have sex. He feels very frustrated, and although he is not at all confused and he knows the other cat is also male, he just doesn't care any more. So please neuter the poor cats. They both suffer (the "raped" one too).
