something looking like snot is formed over them and it forms inside, well under the eye and it just covers it and sticks the eye shut. I have to constantly catch them and remove it and it's getting on my nerves.

my neighbor said if I kept on doing this they would eventually get stronger as they get older and it will stop, but I want to solve the problem now!

So any ideas or suggestions on what to do?

To clean the kittens' eyes, use either cotton balls or a soft washcloth. Use lukewarm water and either a different cotton ball for each eye or a different part of the washcloth. (This will keep from spreading infection.) Wipe from the nose outward. This should help to remove the crusty stuff. Sometimes it will paste the eye shut so you should gently work the eye open while you wipe it. You'll need to do this several times a day. This should go away in a few days if you're patient and keep at it. However, if it's a true infection, a consultation with the vet would be a good idea.

Sometimes eye problems can proceed into upper respiratory infections, so the vet is your best bet.

As Linda C said but I clean with a 50/50 solution of warm water and peroxide to cut through the crust. If you have no meds then apply Vaseline after cleaning. Just be sure that the petroleum jelly is fresh and not contaminated because it has sat on your shelf since forever.

In the beginning it may take several applications a day. If you are diligent you should see some positive results.

If you see no improvement then it is time for antibiotics that only your vet can prescribe

Kittens eyes get infected like this and it may result in the eye falling out and teh kitten getting blind. You must go to the vet, because they may need oral medication as well as local medication. If you can't do this, at least use human antibiotic eye drops (Tobrex) 3 times a day for a week (one drop on each eye).
