Because the insane god of the bible is murderous and obsessed with blood and suffering (see book of Job, Cain & Abel, Abraham, many others).

I didn't realize that the nutrient carrier of mammalian bodies had some kind of power to reverse non-Christian behavior...Or maybe the Bible was written by a bunch of ancient guys obsessed with blood, war, and conflict.

What is sane? You sit here at least 6000 years later with a totally different morality and judge ancient people. All ancient gods were celebrated with blood sacrifices. The Greek gods, the Assyrians, the Romans the Incas, Toltec the Phoenicians, you name it. It was the prevalent religious philosophy and still is in a way. You have to sacrifice to prove your faith. It does not have to be blood although it sometimes is. The sacrifice has to be valuable. So yes god is pleased.

God does not want it or need it but sacrifice is necessary for redemption. Notice in Genesis, Cain sacrificed animals and Abel sacrificed plants and Abel's was the sacrifice God accepted. Malachi talks of God not wanting our sacrifices and that he was not pleased with the people. However, Romans states that the wages of sin is death so death is needed to take away sin. The sacrifice is a transfer of sin from the person to the sacrifice and allows man to return to communion with God since a perfect God can not abide sin.

Who are you that judges God almighty,I pray that you will see the error of your ways before you die. God gave us laws to live by so that we could know His nature & recognize our sin. One of this is the wages of sin is death, & with out a blood sacrifice there is no remission of sin. The animal sacrifices were only a shadow of things to come. When Jesus came & fulfilled the law there was no longer a need for animal sacrifice Jesus died once for all, the perfect sacrificial lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. Glory to God in the highest!!!!!

in the old testament it was all symbolic to what Jesus would do for us. Partly because the atonement had not been given yet, so God was testing their faith and their williingness, but also to set the path for the ultimate sacrafice. The sacrafice of His first Son, and the Savior of the world. With Moses- they were told to kill their lamb with no blemishes (which symbolizes Jesus- the Lamb who is perfect) and put the blood above their doors to save their first born sons from dying. That blood symbolizes Jesus blood, and that His blood has saved us all. God was pleased because they were obedient. Because someone had to make the ultimate sacrafice- there is no other greater sacrafice than to lay down ones life for another. Jesus did it for the entire human race from beginning to end- why wouldn't God be pleased with a selfless act like that, so that we could all return back to him?

Because blood represents life, particularly man's life. Even when the blood of animals was used it was symbolic of a human life in exchange for a human life pointing to the future Crucifixion of Christ. God says a persons way of living points him to life or death however the curse of sin doomed all of mankind for the second death which is the lake of fire if we were not purchased back from the curse.

Always follow the trail of money or power.

Good question. This is a giant drama that is deeply embedded into the psych of mankind. Apparently there are many people who need this blood sacrifice thing.

To each his own. Don't let it ruffle your feathers!

The life is in the blood (-Leviticus 17:11.) Laying down one's life for another is one of the greatest manifestation of love.

Blood is the essence of life and therefore represents what is alive and it also contributes to the idea that life is delicate and precious. Blood is the balance tipper. While we know we need blood to stay alive many of us feel uneasy when we see blood outside the body. This is because our primal instinct tells us that blood should be doing it's work inside and that being outside is ending or being harmful to life. The use of blood in rituals and sacrific signifies life itself being a forceful tool.
