Just get him something that relates to him! Does he play games? If so get him a game! Does he like to dress nice, buy him a shirt!! Does he like a certain resturaunt, get him a gift card!! There is almost gift cards for every store around!!! There are plenty of things you can get!! Good luck!:)

If you two are getting close, get him something that can be worn and admired. Something that holds sentiment. Does he wear any jewelry? Necklaces or chains? Earrings or bracelets? Rings?
If he doesn't usually wear anything. The most comfortable gift would be a masculine necklace. Something with beads or made out of hemp. Nothing glittery or feminine. I'm talking metal, plastic or stone beads. Something that looks "cool".
It really depends on his personal character. If he's into music or something else, you could get him something nice that had to do with his favored category.
You should probably never rely on the advice a stranger offers as far as what you should buy for someone they don't know.
I suppose I should have simply asked, "What does he like?" The answer to that question should also answer yours.

maybe you could get him a gift certificate to a cool clothing store, you know what type of clothes he wears, so you can probably pick out a good store, you can also find a nice card for him and maybe a coupon book, with little coupons in it like for a free massage, free kisses, a not so silent night, lol if you need more ideas let me know!

Its hard to know what someone wants for there birthday you can know the person for a while and still not have a clue. one of my ex's was like that. Just ask what he would like.

best gift for boy friend can be your photo in a special frame, that says i love you or something like that.
you can also buy a parfume, necklace, or a shirt.
