if you really want your patience go a long way...
you should be aware of the consequences..
thinking about having to deal with you patience for current issues today may have an effect in the future.. what i mean is that you might need to deal with hanging longer than you think you can...

just think positive all the way...
if something turns out bad, think of it that it happend for some reasons you need to understand...
when it gets too irritating, try controlling yourself and feed your mind ith thoughts like "i need to experience this, i'll get better if endure it", "i need to get through this no matter what, it's for my own good","i should hang on, this the way things are supposed to be, i need to live with it"...or any other thoughts related to them...
pray a lot and fervently...this will give you rest after a lot of frustrations...

Im assuming you meant 'being A patient'...and here's my advice:
Be your own advocate. Don't assume the doctor's know what's best. Don't be afraid to say 'no' or ask questions. It's your body, and you should maintain control. That said, if you like your doctor and you trust him do what they tell you.
Be stubborn, be educated, and listen to your body.

I am not trying to convert you to this religion, I am not even this religion, but the religion teaches patients and I thought it might be something you are looking for. This link will start you off into research on the subject. Also other religions are helpful in learning techniques of patience.

If you mean all the waiting you have to do day to day, I find that it helps to have things to think about or even read especially waiting around in an office or even for an elevator. That wasted time can be useful if you do some planning or thinking about things while you wait. Having nothing to think about makes the wait interminable.

Well, you can be patient and bide your time, or you can be compliant as a patient and do what the doctor tells you to do.
